We had the good fortune of connecting with Renee Terrell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Renee, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my business because I realized there was a real need to help others communicate their ideas, products and services in a way that causes their audience to take action. I also wanted to find an outlet for my innovative ideas. One that feeds my creative side while fulfilling my continual desire to help others.

Service has always been an important part of my life. Even as a young child I would always find creative ways to encourage those who were around me. As a business owner it provided me the opportunity to not only express myself but help others do the same. It is my firm belief that everyone has something to offer the world. Therefore, I look at every business owner, service provider, non-profit organization or author that I assist in building their brand as my way of helping others share their gift with their world.

What should our readers know about your business?
At Concept Marketing Firm we help executives, service providers, non-profit organizations and established authors monetize their message, sell more books and attract their ideal client with ease. As branding strategist we develop positioning recommendations, define brand elements and tone. Our mission is to use innovation to revolutionize brands. Our vision is to help you place your stamp on the world!

We provide practical, proven strategies that help business owners grow their digital presence and increase their revenues. What sets us apart from the rest is our emphasis on providing strategies that are realistic for each individual client. One size does not fit all when it comes to marketing and branding. While there are common techniques that can help with growth, the actual application must be customized to the specific needs of each client and their audience.

I often use the example of an influencer who shared that he had over two million followers but was not making any money and was struggling to pay his bills. This is a common issue with many who are on social media. Our focus is to help our clients get results by directing their efforts toward practical strategies that lead to financial growth.

One thing I always say is “it’s not going to be easy but it will be worth it.” Digital platforms are always changing. The algorithms are different for each of them as well. Therefore, being able to adjust quickly to the various transitions is how you stay ahead of the competition. This requires commitment and most importantly consistency. Another statement I always tell my clients is “we focus on facts not feelings.” This means that we evaluate our progress based on the numbers that affect our growth and revenue. Furthermore, we do not allow our “emotional state” in a moment to determine how we move forward because that feeling is temporary and subjective. However, a fact can be proven and measured which gives an accurate depiction of the outcomes we are evaluating.

One of the things that I am most proud of is my book called “Communicating Richly: The Power of You” which, provides tools on to craft your message to build your brand. I wrote this book to address the huge issue of “social media burnout” which continually caused business owners to become overwhelmed with the process of sharing their product or service on digital platforms. My book shares simple, easy, manageable tips and tools which can help you grow your bottom line. I also share ways to attract your ideal clients and keep them engaged in what you have to offer. One of my greatest joys is to hear the feedback from business owners who have applied the principles in my book and as a result have seen an increase in revenues.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take them to several of the classic Atlanta attractions such as Stone Mountain because they always have great seasonal activities plus the 4-D Experience theater. We also would visit several African American history locations such as M.L.K’s home, the Apex Museum, and the Civil Rights Museum (sitting at the counter experience is something that will forever be imprinted in my mind).

We would definitely have to go shopping at Perimeter mall and try to catch a game at both the State Farm Arena and the Braves stadium.

We can’t forget about all the great restaurants we would visit such as Shake Shack, Mary Macs, Seasons 52, Juicy Crab and stop for cupcakes at CamiCakes.

For fun we would go to St. James Jazz Club and try to catch a Broadway show at the Fox.

We would walk around Ponce City Market and perhaps catch a live show there as well.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My community of friends and family are what keeps me grounded. My daughter is the “why” behind everything I do. She is also my biggest cheerleader!
