We had the good fortune of connecting with Reginald Ford and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Reginald, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I became extremely passionate about creative design and branding in 2011. I decided to launch my business in January of 2015. This year, I celebrate six years. When I first launched, I didn’t have a website, a formal email, or an invoicing system just yet – I simply wanted to create. After a year or two, I developed a website, created an organized workflow system, and created social media pages to help begin showcasing my artwork. My business has continued to grow in various phases. RF Design Studio initially started with only graphic design. We now offer web design, event management, and social media management. If you would have told me in the 10th grade that I would one-day freelance and design for non-profits, colleges, churches, or even major events — I would not have believed you. My journey so far is only the beginning, and there is so much more to come.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My passion, creativity, and professionalism are what sets me apart from others. I’m most proud of how my business has expanded over the last six years — clients, various projects, and services! In 2020, I was able to see my artwork on billboards and buses. I believe that the race is given to those who endure until the end. My journey has not been easy, but it hasn’t been too hard either. Some of the lessons I have learned over the years are good time management, implementing business systems to create a streamlined workflow, and expanding my skill set. I want to world to know that I 1) Discover (uncover the details and possibilities for your brand creative design), 2) Design (create the piece(s) that communicate your vision to your target market, and 3) Deliver (help to launch your vision to your target and get results).

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First, I have to give ALL credit to God — for life, the gifts, talents, and abilities. Secondly, I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my tribe. My tribe consists of family, friends, my mentor, and a list of clients. This group keeps me grounded, sane, on my toes, and out of the box. My story and journey are only possible because of them.
