We had the good fortune of connecting with Regina & Robin Reaves and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Regina & Robin, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We started our own business because we knew that we had so much to invest into a company and we were never going to get our true value working for someone else. Being our own bosses allowed us to leverage our abilities that we learned in corporate America and be able to provide a premium service to our clients via interior design. Now we take on all the risk and were able to receive all the rewards by being in charge of the decision making. We are OK with the risk that come along with being an entrepreneur because we understand that everything in life is about learning. So, over the last three years we have learned a lot about business and interior design and we understand that every day we wake up we will continue to learn about these two things. The good news is we have gained so much knowledge that it allows us to run our business at a high frequency and deliver quality results.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What separates R&R interior design 365 from other companies that do similar work is; that were very versatile. A lot of companies only stick to one aesthetic or one style of design that they’re most comfortable with. However, with our company we are able to maneuver through an assortment of different design styles from rustic, contemporary, modern, bohemian, transitional, mid century, art deco and farmhouse just to name a few. Our design work speaks to a number of different clients that have a variation of design needs. This allows us to cater to a greater audience and allows our artistic vision to be expressed in every room we touch.
Getting to where we are as an interior design company definitely isn’t easy but it has come very natural. It’s a lot of hard work and long nights that have allowed us to gain the experience that we need to become a premier design company in the Southeast region. Regina has a background in property management with over 15 years of experience in the field while being a property manager and regional in the greater Charlotte area for a fortune 500 company. I’m a heavily active real estate agent in North Carolina and Virginia. So, I get the distinct advantage of studying homes and architectural home designs throughout the region. Which allows me to critically look at what appraisers are valuing as well as buyers to make sure that every homeowners investment goes as far as possible. I also get the opportunity to see what builders are adding to homes or what’s trending right now. On the other side of the business, Regina has the experience of dealing with vendors and establishing different relationships. She’s able to build rapport while making sure our clients are getting the best quality and the best pricing throughout the interior design experience. Vendor management is a large part of interior design and it’s definitely an area we shine in thanks to Regina‘s experience in property management. She’s managed very detailed and large budget capital & expense projects for several different properties at once. Again this knowledge and experience is a huge bonus for our company.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Whenever we visit Atlanta we always enjoy taking our kids to the Georgia Aquarium. There’s lots to see and it can definitely take take a few days to get through. We also enjoy the World of Coco Cola museum and learning all the fun facts behind the brand. These would be our top 2 suggestions of places to visit while in the city.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We most definitely want to shout out my parents and our team of vendors. Without the help and support of my mom and dad we wouldn’t be able to run our business so smoothly and at the pace we currently do. They’re a tremendous help with our kids and assisting in all areas of help. Whether it’s letting us know we’re doing a good job or allowing us a weekend to regroup before the next project.
Lastly without our vendors we wouldn’t be able to deliver quality results on every project. From our painters, electricians, carpenters, photographer and movers they all play a vital position on the team. Their willingness to adjust scheduling, show up on job sites in a timely manner and even lend another outlook at times have been super helpful.
