We had the good fortune of connecting with Regina Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Regina, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
Other than deciding to work for myself, the single most important decision that has contributed to my success was to trust myself and to also surround myself with professionals who are better skilled in areas that are not my forte.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Corks and Cuvee is a wine lifestyle company. Corks and Cuvee started as a wine consultancy in 2014 servicing small restaurants with creating wine lists and residential cellar owners with stocking their cellars. In 2018 Corks and Cuvee opened its first retail wine shop and tasting room in Conyers, GA. What sets Corks and Cuvee apart is the level of knowledge in the wine space and the multiple areas in the wine space we occupy. How I got to where I am business-wise…..a couple of amazing mentors, trial and error, and trusting my gut. Lessons I have learned along the way: Trust your gut, collaborations are great, and move in excellence and integrity
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Monday – Definitely a spa day and lunch at the Four Seasons Tuesday – Bike ride on the Atlanta Beltline Eastside Trail. Dinner Wednesday – We would do a Wine Down Wednesday wine tasting tour – visiting some of my favorite places for Wine Tasting – Corks and Cuvee – The Purple Corkscrew – 3 Parks – Vino Teca Thursday – Dinner in Decatur Parkers on Ponce Friday – Day tour (KIng Center, National Center for Civil and Human Rights, College Football Hall of Fame) Dinner at Barcelona Saturday – Shopping at Phipps Plaza Dinner at Bones in Buckhead Sunday – Brunch at The St. Regis
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would have to give the biggest shoutout to my parents. They taught me at an early age I could be and do anything I wanted as long as I worked for it. I grew up having a strong work ethic. This strong work ethic has been invaluable in my business success. I do not see limits only sky.
