We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebecca Sullivan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rebecca, how does your business help the community?
When I started Happy Tree Organizing 11 years ago, I realized early on that our clients and community can mutually benefit from each other, and we are the connecting piece they need. I made it part of our business model to contribute to our community & environment.

I developed our company processes around the core value of giving back. At the end of each organizing session, my team of professional organizers go out of their way to distribute our client’s donations to organizations with the greatest need, who will use these items right away. For example, one organization I have partnered with collects and distributes our client’s clothing donations to unhoused LGBTQA+ youth, and another accepts our donations of shoes for under privileged children. These children would otherwise be wearing shoes or clothes that don’t fit, or have holes in them.

Not only do we give back to our local community, we also take extra time and care to recycle more items than our local county offers. I have contracted with a private recycling company. When we have our inventory products delivered, plastics like air packets, bubble wrap, and even styrofoam can be recycled. I intentionally included Tree in our name to reflect one of our core values: environmentalism.

With the added cost of private recycling plus additional time of dropping off client donations to multiple locations, it reduces our profit margin. However, as an entrepreneur, I want to make an impact not just to my clients, but also to our community. We are proud to operate in this manner, and view it as an investment for the greater good. Our clients will repeatedly say, this is why we have chosen your company over others offering similar services.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’ve have learned that when you combine our expert techniques of easy-to-maintain organizing, while being dedicated to caring for clients, you create an unmatched experience. Even if we just organize one closet, our team shares efficient and easy to keep up organizing strategies for the whole home. We change lives by giving families more time & a calmer space.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love to take people to local owned businesses that serve up amazing tastes & quality ingredients, like Revolution Donuts & Poco Loco. Check out the skyline line views from the roof deck of Six Feet Under, grab a margarita from Agave.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My team of dedicated, caring, women inspires me to be better. These ladies are always thinking of how we can improve our client’s home life. The way that they combine their expertise in our field of home organizing, with caring and efficiency is inspiring to see each day. They are changing lives every time they have a session.
