Meet Ré Alissa | R&B Artist, Songwriter, & Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ré Alissa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ré, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I would say the most important factor behind my success is God. I say that because it’s by God’s grace that I have any of the things I have now. God gave me this voice, He gave the ambition to purse music as a career and to do what I love full-time. He continues to fill me with dreams and aspirations, even when I feel like I’m not where I want to be. So my belief in God is definitely what keeps me going, and keeps everything moving. He loves me and it’s because of that love that I genuinely believe I can do anything I believe I can do.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think one thing that sets me apart from others is that I pull inspiration from so many different places. I really am inspired by not just music and other artists, but by the entire world around me. Every experience, every person you meet, every place you go, everything you touch, etc. can produce a story. One of my favorite things to do is to take those things and put them into music– whether in songwriting or production or using them to inspire melodies. Some important lessons I’ve learned along the way are to be consistent and to never give up. I want the world to know that passion is so important. Your passion can bring you out of the darkest season of your life. It’s that fire that reminds you that your gift means something to you and the world.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m an outdoorsy person so I would definitely my friend to some scenic parks and places around the city. I love Echo Park, the Silverlake Reservoir. There are also some dope hikes near Santa Monica, where we could hit the pier and get drinks at Juicy Ladies afterwards. For a more upscale dinner, we’d have to hit Bacari Silverlake. Honestly, there’s just so much to do in LA. I can’t answer this question without feeling like I’m missing a thousand things haha.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my mother. Although no longer physically with me, she truly instilled in me at a young age and throughout my entire childhood what it means to be confident and bold and fearless. She would remind me all the time that I am great, and that anything I put my mind to I can do if I’m willing to maintain faith and put the work in. So shoutout to her just for being an amazing mother and doing everything she could to set me up for success during her time on Earth!
