Meet Ray Harris | College graduate, entrepreneur & lover of people

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ray Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ray, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve worked since I was 16, and although while I’m still too young to be “tired”, I am. When I first started, I was thinking all about how this could be another source of income for me. I interned at my former church after taking a break from school, confused about what I’m going to do next with my life. That’s where I fell in love with capturing people’s smiles from behind my camera. That’s what I want to do, I’d have fun with people and capture their smiles for years to come!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
A few months ago, I switched from the car industry to the banking industry. None of which, in the broad sense, are my passion but I made the switch hoping to grow and develop within a company. My goal is to make use of my degree which is Media & Entertainment Studies. Fun fact! I graduated from KSU in the spring of 2020, right in the midst of covid and I didn’t get to walk across the stage. But that’s okay because my degree doesn’t prove my worth and I can’t wait to put my worth towards my true passion, once I find it!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First two stops are Velvet Taco and then Jeni’s ice cream. I mean this is the best combo and no one can prove me differently! Then I’d take them to IPIC because i just found out about that movie theater and the surrounding area (Colony Square, it’s my new fav part of the city) and then we’d go hang out in my backyard because honestly, my dad has put in so much work building onto the house and making a killer hang out area!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to shoutout my partner. Tony has always been encouraging when it comes to helping me find my passion and also helping me better myself in the craft instead of remaining stagnant! Thank you boo 🙂
