We had the good fortune of connecting with Rasheeda Purdie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rasheeda, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking is one of my love languages. My life is filled with plenty of them. I am a “Maryland girl” turned “Harlem girl”, that has yet to give up. I am a stylist turned chef, that has yet to give up. So risk taking plays a major role in my life that motivates me daily. Even now I’m taking major risks by stepping outside the box to learn more about Asain food and culture. I currently run my own business Ramen by Ra that offers exclusive ramen experiences. Nothing good comes easy but it’s definitely worth in the end.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In the Fall of 2020 as a result of the global health pandemic, I launched my own business Ramen by Rā, in partnership with Ada Supper Club. The two partnership events “Renaissance” and “Resolution” were by far huge successes!

Early 2021, I launched ramenbyra.com, where I offer exclusive ramen experiences for you to indulge in the comfort of your home.

Ramen by Rā is not your ordinary soup, it’s soup for the soul. It’s an experience that best shows off my culinary skills and creativity as a chef.

Each menu is well thought out and connect to my culture, history, and holidays of the season.

This journey has been a blessing and as unique as it is. It’s all from the heart. Cooking is one of my love languages and I hope you enjoy! Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a shoutout to all my family and friends for the ongoing love and support. Special shoutout to Food and Lifestyle Blogger Dominek Tubbs “Domnthecity” for always inspiring me to level up, Chef Harold “Unkle Harold” and Chef Cesar for always spreading that pure brotherly love in/outside the kitchen, Chef Darrell Raymond and Chef Tien Ho for always helping me with their Asain food and culture knowledge. And lastly my close chef circle -Sheedah and Iron, love y’all and Godspeed!
