We had the good fortune of connecting with Rasheed & R. Saeed Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rasheed & R. Saeed, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
If one is creative, then they usually find a way to express it. My brother and I always knew how to tell stories. And, I felt like – if the story was interesting to me, then I’m pretty sure it’ll be interesting to others. And, from the looks of our early film festival entries, I guess we were right (haha!)

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
At the end of the day, we want others to see what you can accomplish with focus and determination. There was no one stroking our backs through it all. There are twice as many failures than successes on your path. And, that’s actually being generous. It’s very hard. But, I think that people that are really determined already know this. You have to understand that anything that’s worth having is rarely going to come easy. It’s gonna make you pay. Either up front, or – at the back end. Almost every problem that we could face putting together ‘The Urbans’, we did face. But, it’s here now. It’s streaming on Roku, Amazon Prime, Tubi and more. And, after all of that, we still have plenty of work to do. So, go stream it now! (haha)

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Aw man… you tell me! (haha) I rarely go places because we stay so busy. But, food wise, I love Pappadeaux. I would eat there atleast twice a week if I could. I can taste the Atlantic Salmon, Blue cheese salad, soup and bread right now. We may have to take a break!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are lots of people that a person could pull inspiration from. People that take that risky leap are the most admirable to me. I hear stories like Will Packer selling his own tickets state to state. And, Jordan Peele rewriting ‘Get Out’ dozens of times. And, of course Tyler Perry becoming the only black major network owner in Hollywood. These are extraordinary achievements that anyone should be able to look at and pull from.
