We had the good fortune of connecting with Raquel Sorondo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Raquel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
After a decade filming advertising, moving to the USA meant starting from scratch. Living in a small town without a substantial film industry presented a unique challenge. To continue pursuing my passion for filmmaking, I decided to start my own business. This allowed me to keep doing what I love by creating videos independently, adapting to my new environment, and bringing my vision to life even without a large production team.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is deeply rooted in storytelling. What sets me apart is my ability to weave narratives that resonate with audiences on a profound level. I’m proud of my unique approach to visual storytelling, which combines cinematic language with heartfelt narratives to create compelling and impactful content.

Transitioning from Venezuela to the USA brought its share of challenges, especially in a small town with limited film industry opportunities. However, I approached these hurdles with adaptability and creativity, refusing to let them hinder my passion. Through perseverance and seeking out new avenues, I developed my skills and fostered a network of supportive collaborators.

Throughout this journey, I’ve gained valuable insights into resilience and the transformative nature of storytelling. Each obstacle has served as a catalyst for growth, propelling me forward in my artistic endeavors.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that behind every project is a deeply passionate storyteller committed to creating meaningful connections. My work is not just about capturing images; it’s about capturing emotions, sparking conversations, and inspiring change. I believe in the transformative power of storytelling, and I’m dedicated to using my craft to make a positive impact on the world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Day 1: Let’s start our week with a casual stroll along the Chattanooga Bridge, taking in the views, and then treat ourselves to some tasty ice cream at Clumpies.

Day 2: Time to get active at High Point Climbing Gym downtown! And later, we can unwind with a cozy dinner at Tony’s, known for their amazing pasta.

Day 3: How about a little escape to the Blue Hole in Soddy Daisy? It’s the perfect spot for a relaxing day surrounded by nature.

Day 4: Get ready for some thrills! We’re going paragliding with my husband, who’s a pro at it.

Day 5: Let’s hit up Foster Falls for some climbing and a dip in the water. Then we can just hang out and chill.

Day 6: Morning paddleboarding sounds like a great way to start the day, followed by a visit to the river island. And if we’re up for it, we can check out the cool stuff at the Hunter Museum.

Day 7: We’ll wrap up the week by exploring the unique sculptures at Sculpture Field and maybe grab a drink or two at the Choo Choo.

These are the activities we typically do when we have visitors, and I’m sure you’ll love them too!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Over the years, I’ve had the chance to work with some truly amazing and talented people in Venezuela. They helped me grow and learn so much. Working with such a diverse group taught me to appreciate different viewpoints and ways of doing things. Nowadays, the biggest supporters in my life are my husband, who taught me everything I know about photography, and my mom, who taught me how to edit. I currently work with both of them on our projects, and I couldn’t imagine doing it without their incredible support and teamwork.
