We had the good fortune of connecting with Randolph Simmons and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Randolph, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risk has played a major role in my life. Growing up I had fear that if I failed it meant I was a failure. However, by taking risk you will learn to overcome your fears. You will likely begin to care less about what people think and less about what could go wrong, which is a powerful shift in thinking. “I think if you risk nothing, you risk everything.” -Geena Davis

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am where I am professionally today by my hard work, dedication, and understanding of what it means to be a team player. I’m a sponge, I catch on fast and I am eager to learn more about the art. I am most proud of my growth. When I started acting I thought I knew what I was doing. I’m grateful I can take constructive criticism well which is the reason I took my butt to acting school and started to learn more about the art to be me, rather than trying to be an actor.

Acting has always been a part of my life. From childhood to playing football in Canada to amazing opportunities to stand in for NFL Hall of Famers on major TV networks. Being fired from my job due to racial retaliation during the pandemic I had nothing to fall back on. So grateful for that because what was suppose to break me made me. No, it wasn’t easy and it still isn’t easy. I continue to learn to put myself out there and never put myself down for missed opportunities. What is for me is for me so I stay positive and peaceful. Don’t give up! Find your purpose while always being you. The world will try to tear you down and tell you what you are not.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my fam to the lake where we can jet ski, fish, drink and hang. I love water so the most fun and interesting places or things I would recommend would be near a beach or to the gym to play basketball and lift weights.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My “Shoutout” is dedicated to my late great Mom and Dad! Patricia (Pat) K Drain and Randolph (Randy) Johnson! I thank them for always believing and pushing me towards my dreams, never allowing me to settle for less or fall victim to what the world tells me I should be. This is for y’all. -Randy Patrick
