We had the good fortune of connecting with Ramon Reed and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ramon, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My business was formulated by me and my mother. Since the start of my career, we had always had the word “rare” come up in conversation, day-to-day life, and sometimes the word would constantly appear in our mind so during quarantine my mom and I had this idea that we should start a motivational lifestyle and clothing brand using “rare” as our mantra and putting a definition on what it means to live rare, and that was the start of RARE MNDST

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I began acting at the age of nine in my hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina. my first ever role was a non-speaking role on a local commercial for a Lake community. At this time, I was still in public school, but I had made up in my mind that I was going to need to be homeschooled because I was going to book a huge role. Fast-forward to the age of 11 I was able to audition for the lion King on broadway and that’s when I booked my first major role as young Simba. I played Young Simba on the national tour for a year and then I was asked to come to Broadway in there. I played young Simba for three months. From then I progressed to book more major roles like “Owen” on Disney Channel’s just roll with it, Eddie in Netflix’s 13 the musical, ironically, I played another Eddie in my most recent Netflix film “Incoming” that was #1 worldwide for 2 weeks. Throughout my career, I was always told that it’s imperative to “own” the things that you create so as I got older, I started to branch out into different things, such as launching my podcast “A Rare moment with Ramon Reed” and starting my motivational brand RARE MNDST

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’ve been blessed to live a plethora of places, so I have so many spots and so many cities to choose from but if we were in LA, I would take my friends to eat at castaway, which is a beautiful restaurant that overlooks the city of Los Angeles, or I would take them to Venice Beach to ride electric bikes on the beach. It’s so peaceful and you get to see everything that Venice has to offer.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to dedicate my shout out to my mom, Rosalyn Hart. She is not only the strongest woman I know, but also the main driving force in helping me acquire the success that I have thus far.
