Meet Raegan Owen | Graphic Designer & Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Raegan Owen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Raegan, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks has played a huge role in my life. As a kid, risk looked like climbing to a higher branch on a tree or attempting new tricks on my bike and collecting new scars on my knees. As an adult, risk now looks like traveling overseas for new experiences or hiking the steeper trail for breathtaking views. In my career, risk looks like pushing my own boundaries, stepping out of my comfort zone and fueling my curiosity. Risk can be scary because there is no guarantee for success, however ‘if it doesn’t scare you at least a little bit, then you’re not doing enough’ is a mantra that will always keep moving me forward in every aspect of my life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a graphic designer dedicated to finding new, innovative solutions by pushing the industry’s boundaries. My work displays a wide variety of styles while maintaining a common undertone of my knowledge in psychology as a tool to reach specific target audiences. From the time I learned how to hold a crayon I was coloring and drawing. I continued with fine art all through grade school and into college. It wasn’t until after the pandemic that I took my first graphic design class as a sophomore at Georgia State University. It was Intro Typography and within the first five minutes, I knew that this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There is so much to do in Atlanta! If I were planning an itinerary for my best friend’s week long visit, I would start of with the must-see’s like the World of Coke, the Georgia Aquarium, and the King Center. I would also take her to the High Museum, the Fox Theater for a show and the Mercedes Benz Stadium for an ATL United game. I would end the itinerary with a walk down the Belt Line and exploring some of my favorite neighborhoods like Old Fourth Ward, Little Five Points, Cabbage Town and East Atlanta Village. It is an ambitious schedule but Atlanta has so much to offer and this itinerary only scratches the surface.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out my amazing cousin, Abbie Bythewood. Her entrepreneurial mindset, creative talent and her bright, encouraging personality is inspirational. I look up to her in so many ways and cherish her as both a friend and a role model.
