We had the good fortune of connecting with Rae Jordan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rae, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
I am so type A! People have said hat i should be a party or event planner. When I was applying to colleges, I had a 20+ page packet of each schools information, deadlines, facts, etc. That’s how my brain has always worked, and it took some growing into to appreciate it!

Tasks that others find tedious or repetitive, I really thrive in. I see everything as a puzzle, and I’m braced with tenacity until I’ve figured it out. That’s how I really began to break into social media. The consistency of liking posts, commenting on and engaging with content, following interesting accounts, all became a game to me. Over time, I began to unlock different strategies — determining which hashtags brought the most engagement (through some research, but mostly trial and error), what the optimal fuss and times were for posting, and finding who my target audience was! From there, my personal account began to soar, and others began to notice. I began receiving multiple messages daily with questions regarding social media strategy. I realized that there was a market for assisting people with growing their networks, and that I knew how to do it. As the pandemic approached and most of life shifted to existing in the digital space, that’s when I really saw a boom in clientele. Hoping that ad we ease out of this virus, that the appreciation and demand for online community will remain!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I runs small social media agency called Rae Jordan LLC. We have a team of three amazing atlanta local black women, who have their own strengths and experiences that they bring to the team!

I didn’t study marketing in college. I don’t have a business degree. I absolutely fell into this industry and am so happy that I did. My initial and driving passion is acting. I’ve been performing since I was a little girl, and as I got older I realized how much image and branding played a role in the entertainment space. As I began building and creating my own personal image, I was blessed with the opportunity to do that for others. I’ve worked with athletes, realtors, doctors and dentists, authors, influencers, teachers, clothing/beauty brands and more.

So much of this I learned along the way, and I’ve had the chance to network with some amazing entrepreneurs and professionals that continue to inspire me and push me to be my best!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My boyfriend and I love the belt line! It really gives a beautiful perspective of the vibrancy of the city. You can walk for a few miles and see skaters, a dog park, live musicians, vendors of handmade jewelry and craft, hear spoken word, grab a drink or ice cream — all while in foot (or bike/scooter)! One day, we walked from Ponce City Market to Piedmont Park. It was a trek, but so worth it!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to shout out The Children’s School. It’s where I began my educational journey as a child, and the place that really challenged my growing intellectual mind. The unique classroom setting recognizes individual achievement in a way that pushes you to continue learning more
