We had the good fortune of connecting with Rae Banz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rae, what do you attribute your success to?
God. Being an independent artist isn’t easy. Especially when you’re still working a full time job and a single mom. God is the most important factor behind my success. Sometimes I never know what my next step will be or what to do next, but the next thing just falls in my lap. I know it’s not anybody else but God. Faith without work is dead. Growing up, my dad always told me “what you put in, is what you get out”. So I put in the work & let God do the rest. God is the real plug.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My strong stage presence & strong southern accented voice is what I feel sets me apart from other artist. I also think my delivery & being raw with my audience makes me stand out as well. It took a lot of dedication, prayer, and ground work to get me where I am with my music today. I still feel like I have a long way to go, but I’ve come a long long way from where I started! That’s what I’m most proud of. I really did this on my own. Coming from a small town like where I’m from, everybody is not happy to see you going up. They’ve done the worst of the worst to blemish my image, but no matter what I keep going. I have to remind myself what I’m in it for. That’s my daughter, to take care of the people I love, and turn my dreams into reality for the smaller me. On this journey I’ve learned, all publicity is good publicity & you can come back from anything! I want the world to know Rae Banz is REAL. I’m authentic and I really built my name brick by brick.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m more of a lounge/bar type of girl. I don’t do the clubs. I’m anywhere laid back, but still a vibe. During the week I would say go by Harold’s bar and grill, esco bar, find & feathers, and elite lounge for food and drinks. I love a one stop shop! The food and drinks are good at all of those places. I’m still new to the city so I’m still discovering new places! Some of those days we can grab a bottle and do something at home. You have to let the scene miss you! To top off the week I would take them to Sky Lounge. It’s a nice roof top lounge where you can dress it up or dress down and get a great view of the city night life.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
God, my parents, Serenity (my daughter), Allen (my boyfriend), & DJ Perk (my DJ). Also, a few close friends, family, and the support from my hometown Thomasville, GA. They all keep me grounded & motivated to keep going!!
