We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Mabry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
A lot of reality shows and channels like HGTV show the fun and lighter side of real estate – which is really only a small percentage of the gig! Most people are unaware of all of the hidden work it takes behind the scenes to assist in someone selling or buying property from start to finish and how intimately their Agent is involved in the transaction.

It is so important for home sellers and future homeowners to really know who they are going to have representing them for such a huge transaction. A lot of people feel obligated to use someone they know that is in real estate or a family member.

However, in one of the largest transactions of your life, you need to interview Agents to choose one wisely that is going to best serve you by considering:

-Their experience, communication style, and ethics as a Real Estate Agent

-Their skills as a negotiator and as a professional. There’s usually two Agents in every transaction so you want to ensure you have an Agent that conducts theirselves professionally and is able to build a relationship with the Agent on the other side.)

-Their strategy to help you buy or sell property (and if that meshes with your idea of your property transaction!)

-If you get along with this person and respect them.

-If you trust that this person is going to be organized with your transaction.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
You may recognize me from my use of the peach emoji in my personal real estate brand. If you don’t yet, you will! My goal is so that when anyone smells, sees, or eats a peach – they think of me!

But truly, I’m doing what I love here in and around Atlanta (OTP + ITP). I took my background in education, sales, and hospitality and asked myself how I could best help people in this day and age and own my own business, and the answer was clear as day – real estate!

Anyone in real estate (or who has purchased real estate) knows that the challenges are there every day and the gig contradicts itself constantly – you have to be organized and process-driven, and yet adaptable to that process at any moment.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are so many wonderful spots in Atlanta! I tend to stay relatively OTP, since I live in Marietta, but love to still explore.

For accommodations, I would recommend the Loews Midtown, the W Midtown, or The Hotel at Avalon up in Alpharetta. If staying at the Loews, a spa treatment at Exhale is a MUST.

For food, you can’t go wrong going to a downtown hotspot. City Springs in Sandy Springs is my current go-to and boasts The Select, General Muir, Flower Child, and Nam which are all so good for whatever mood you are in.

Marietta Square also hosts some of my favorite restaurants – Taqueria Tsunami, Stockyard Burgers, Two Birds Taphouse, and of course, Sweettreats for dessert. You can’t go wrong in Historic Downtown Roswell or Woodstock either!

The Battery ATL is one of my favorite spots to hang out and just walk around all the shops and restaurants, and obviously I can’t leave without getting a pizza to-go from Anticos.

The High Museum is a must for those that enjoy art, and the Van Gogh exhibit at Pullman Yards is definitely a unique experience.

An Atlanta United game experienced in the Supporter’s Section is a must for those that want to experience an exciting game at the beautiful Mercedes Benz Stadium.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband, Matt Mabry, for always pushing me harder. He encouraged me to go into sales years ago which kick-started my true professional development and he constantly challenges us to be the best version of us we can be in all areas of life.

My former boss, Crisp Founder & CEO, Michael Mogill, for challenging me in ways I never thought I would ever agree to, sponsoring training in my career development, and giving me invaluable lessons about business just by proximity.

Rose Garden Consulting’s Founder & CEO, Ali Mirza, for showing me a different way to think about sales and business (and for making me laugh in the process.)
