Meet Rachel Dinkins | CEO & Founder of Rachel Indira Hair Care

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Dinkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rachel, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was trying to solve a problem that I dealt with growing up. I founded Rachel Indira in March of 2020, but researched for many years before creating the brand and formulations. However, it was during the Covid-19 pandemic that I decided this would be the perfect time to focus on my true passion, which is to provide a product that is desperately needed by women and men alike.
I knew that the “new normal” of people quarantining at home meant they were not going to their salons. Therefore, we became our own hair stylists but still wanted our hair to feel and look healthy. I identified this pain point which led me to put out our products full speed ahead! This led me to start Rachel Indira Hair Care!

What should our readers know about your business?
RACHEL INDIRA LLC sets itself apart from other hair care brands. Rachel, the CEO & Founder, has spent many years searching for the perfect hair care line that gives her hair a unique strength, glow and shine. Not only are we delivering results of healthy hair but we incorporate high quality ingredients that are free from Sulfates, Parabens, PEGs, Dyes, and Mineral Oils. We are vegan-friendly and animal cruelty-free. Rachel has worked closely to create the perfect formula for healthy hair. With Rachel’s results and expertise, the desire for RACHEL INDIRA hair care line is why we want to stay ahead of our competition. Many friends and customers have always wanted the same results that we have discovered as well as a clean Hair Care Brand. People may be frustrated because they may not see the results with their current products. We wanted to break that cycle and put a luxurious organic hair care line on the market that would restore moisture, luster and health to ensure healthy hair for all hair types. And that sets us apart from competitors.
I have overcome so many challenges especially starting Rachel Indira during height of the pandemic. I was faced with limited resources such as low raw materials from manufacturers. When we first Launched in June of 2020 officially online
and I sold out within 48 hours we had to reassure customers that restock would be coming. It was definitely challenging as we had to meet the needs of our supply & demand. I was able to overcome some of the challenges by keeping the communication with my customers and letting them know when we would be restocked.
Some of the lessons I learned along the way would be you need passion in your endeavor. Success will come but it requires a lot of hard work, drive and sleepless nights. It is bigger than someone who solely is starting a company out of just wanting to make money. You need to be able to have passion so you can be impactful to your audience. And this will help you succeed and withstand any obstacle. And don’t give up. We are grateful for all of our customers as well as the features from other brands that are reaching out and speaking highly of our products. Receiving 5-star reviews on our products and selling out of all products now has truly been a humbling moment and we will continue serving and making our clients a top priority. Our vision for the brand is to keep elevating and evolving.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love to eat and check out the latest restaurants in Atlanta. Atlanta is known for great hidden gems all around the city. One of my favorite places to go is Le Colonial in Buckhead which is a must-see restaurant that I highly recommend. The vibe and atmosphere are right and just a great way to connect and network. One of my new favorite places to visit is The Works ATL which is an unexpected hidden gem of great dinning, retail and more. It’s a place that you can go with a group of your friends and everyone will have more than enough options to choose from and enjoy!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate my journey to all of the wonderful women that are behind my brand. One of my mentors was my long time hair stylist Terry Parrish. She is an outstanding hair stylist and I know her knowledge and advice have assisted tremendously with this company. She gave me great advice and really gave me that push to pursue this new journey in the hair care industry. I also want to dedicate this article to my creative team who have been here since day 1 and have been a vital part of our growth. I have Brittney Mullins who is my main photographer for the Rachel Indira campaigns and product shoots. She knows and understands my vision and executes that very well. My creative director Tanisha Johnson is my right-hand woman and she delivers my story through the campaign. I trust her expertise when telling my story and vision. And the rest of my creative team Amber Nikol, Taraya Johnson and everyone else who has worked with me throughout this entire journey!
