We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

I was working full time in plastic surgery when the pandemic hit. I went to take one of my kids to the doctor one day and was told I had to leave the other kids at home. It was literally cheaper for me to pay copays for the other kids to be seen by the doctor than to hire a babysitter to watch them. That is when it dawned on me that mothers are being encouraged to find time for self care but can’t always do that with their kids in tow. I realized there was a need for a concierge aesthetics practice to bring self care to people’s homes. I treat people in all walks of life but the majority of my clients are mothers with kids in morning preschool or who stay at home with their kids and just don’t have the time to go to a medical spa or doctor’s office. Working for myself has also given me the flexibility to be more present for my three young children and be there for all their activities.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

My business is a concierge medical aesthetics practice. I am mostly based out of Brookhaven but I travel throughout all metro Atlanta providing Botox and filler treatments in people’s homes. I also have an injection suite for those who prefer treatment outside the house. I have found great success with the moms of young children who struggle to get out of the house for the aesthetic treatments and they are so grateful that I can travel to them during nap time or while their kids watch a few minutes of tv. I have also traveled to people’s offices when they are in a pinch to squeeze in an appointment before an event and just can’t find the time. Additionally, those who are afraid of needles or getting injected have found it is a much more pleasant experience to have me come to their home where they can relax while I inject them instead of having to drive somewhere and sit in a waiting room and all the other unpleasant things that come with a medical office. I have found success through word of mouth referrals and while some days are super crazy driving back and forth all over the city and suburbs, I am so thankful to be busy and do what I love. I so appreciate my clients and nothing makes me happier than when I run into someone at my kids’ schools or sporting events and they rave about their results.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

That is a hard one for me because with 3 kids 5 and under, I spend most of my time trying to entertain them at places like Defy or carting them to various sports and birthday parties. If I had an entire day with just my bestie, I would start with a smoothie at Dtox and a class at Stellar Bodies. Then, maybe grab a coffee and sweet treat at BRASH. I love to shop so maybe we would swing by my favorite store, T. Boutique, on the way to Avalon where we could enjoy the fresh air and shop before having a glass of wine and flatbread at Cru. Maybe swing by Woodhouse Day Spa for a massage – they are amazing! For a night out with friends, we love to meet at the St. Regis bar then go to Umi which is my favorite restaurant. Feels a little basic, but when I don’t get out without kids much, just a relaxing day spending quality time with friends is what I want and need!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

There are 3 people who have made this possible. First is my husband. We had two very young kids and a third on the way when I approached him about wanting to leave my salaried position with benefits to start my own business. Surprisingly, my risk averse husband was totally supportive and even helped me with all things administrative my first year. He is my biggest cheerleader and tells everyone he meets that they need their face treated (we’re working on his delivery!). The second person I couldn’t have been successful without is my Allergan sales rep, Ashley Alderman. I met her while working in plastics and she is a neighbor and now close friend. She has supported me every step of the way by spreading the word of my small business throughout Brookhaven, by helping me host events to increase awareness, and by providing sample products to help me grow and convert friends into clients. Lastly, I couldn’t have been successful without my amazing au pair, Fernanda. She has been with us a year and a half now and has been an amazing addition to our family. I need flexible childcare to accommodate all my clients and their schedules and she is always willing to work with me. I couldn’t do this job without knowing my kids are happy and in good hands at all times.
