Meet Rachel C | Reiki Practitioner & Breath Guide

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel C and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rachel, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
The first quote that comes to mind are the Reiki Principals.
“Just for today I will not worry.
Just for today I will not anger.
I will honor my teachers, family, neighbors, & friends.
Just for today I will live honestly.
Just for today I will be kind to all living things, including myself.”
There are different variations out there but this is how I say it to myself for my personal Reiki Practice. I love that it says “Just for today.” For me it reminds me to just be precent in the moment. I don’t need to take on more than just right now.
Then when it says “I will not anger or worry”, it doesn’t mean that I don’t feel. I will get angry and I will worry. This reminds me to be mindful and to choose. I can feel the feelings without becoming them. I can let them pass instead of holding on to them.
In the middle the principles call us to honor people in our lives. When going through my Reiki certification my teacher reminded us that not all of our teachers stand in front of a class room. Sometimes our biggest teachers our the people in our life that are hard to love. We can still give thanks and honor what lesson we need to learn with them. Whether it be compassion, patience, or setting energetic boundaries.
I love the “live honestly” part. I need a reminder to be honest to myself. Do I really have the energy to commit to one more thing today, this month? Or am I taking to much on because I don’t want to disappoint people? The honesty part is a reminder to check-in with myself.
Now the ending is very important, “Be kind to all living things.” People, animals, nature. But as a natural caregiver I need to remember that I’m included in that. I need to show myself kindness too, in how I treat myself, talk to & about myself.
As a Reiki Master these principles are my daily reminders of how I want to show up in the world.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What I find truly beautiful about Reiki is how every practitioner infuses their own unique qualities into their practice. As my approach to Reiki has evolved, I’ve recently pursued breathwork certification with a focus on being trauma-sensitive, thanks to Lisa from Visionary Healing. Now, whether you’re receiving a 30-minute or an hour-long Reiki session, I begin with 5 to 10 minutes of breathwork. This initial phase is designed to help you offload stress and prepare your body for a deeper state of relaxation and receptivity on the table.
This approach has been a significant part of my own personal journey. I discovered that my body was stuck in a state of prolonged stress, making it difficult to relax and fully receive, whether during massages or acupuncture. This realization taught me that before deep healing can occur, we must first shed the stress and tension we carry. It’s essential to remove the heavy burdens and come into a space of rest and restoration.
I want to emphasize that what we do during a session is just the beginning. While we work together, I focus on clearing your energy, aligning your chakras, and intuitively relaying messages from your higher self. However, the conversation we have at the end of the session is crucial. It’s where we collaborate on practical ways for you to continue cultivating healing and wholeness beyond our time together. It’s about integrating these practices into your daily life to foster ongoing wellness.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My wife and I absolutely love cooking for our friends and family—it’s one of our favorite things to do! We’d definitely whip up something delicious for our visitors, and if the weather’s nice, we might even throw a fabulous barbecue.
For a relaxing treat with a side of even more food, we might head over to Spa Land & Sauna in Duluth for some ultimate chill time.
We also love the idea of preparing a picnic and then heading out to explore Arabia Mountain in Stonecrest. It’s the perfect way to enjoy nature and some homemade goodies.
And if we’re ever unsure what we’re in the mood for, we’ll just take a drive up and down Buford Highway. Whether we end up at a cozy pho spot, a bustling dim sum place, a sushi bar, or a sizzling Korean barbecue joint, there’s always something exciting and tasty to discover!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to take a moment to express my deep gratitude to some incredibly special people in my life. First, a heartfelt thank you to Shelley from Dancing Dogs Yoga Studio, Danielle Hall from Sound Embrace, and Michal Spiegelman from Beacons of Change. Your support has been invaluable. I am also profoundly thankful for Lisa and David from Visionary Healing. And most importunely my loving wife Rosario—your unwavering support & love means the world to me.
So many wonderful individuals have been a part of my journey, and their encouragement has helped me reach where I am today. Whether through their presence, their support, or simply by allowing me to practice Reiki or Breath Work with them, friends and family have created a beautiful community around me. Even those who no longer live in state continue to be a source of strength and inspiration.
A special shout-out to some of my suportive friends: Adetinpo, Ellie, Linda, Tomer, Lana, Eliya, Nur, Simon, and Veronica. Your friendship and support are cherished more than words can express. Thank you all for being a part of my journey and for making it so incredibly rewarding.
And to everyone else who has touched my life in meaningful ways—though I may not mention you by name, your impact has not gone unnoticed. Your support and presence are deeply felt.
