We had the good fortune of connecting with R.F. Tres and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi R.F., can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Patience is a virtue. Before you can walk the marble, you have to walk the mud. To me, all that means is everything won’t be easy and it’s ok to take a loss as long as you can apply that to the future. Everybody is different so nobody’s business plan will take off in the exact timeframe that they want it to. Some may work earlier than expected and some may take longer. Trust the process

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart is the honesty in my music. I’m big on integrity so I try to relate to the listener in my songs. I’m not the biggest artists or have a huge following and no disrespect to my peers, but I don’t think they have the same replay value or humility as me.

Some lessons I learned along the way is to allow myself to not be perfect. I’ve only been making music for about 4 years now and I don’t feel like I’m at my full potential. I’m still learning new things about music and myself so I’m just enjoying the ride.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We going to Edgewood on a Friday night hahaha. A lot of crazy shit happens over here but theres also a lot of cool things about Edgewood Ave. Our Bar ATL is always lit and theres always people popping wheelies in the streets. I’d also take the homies to Little 5 Points. Cool ass thrift shops, good ass food, and beautiful ass women. Perfect Combination haha. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout to my team Rai, Lavish3.0, Jak & Angel. We been working real hard to get our name up and make a statement. I want to shoutout to Playlist Academy, we running shit out here in Atlanta! Big shoutout to J Wise. And a HUGE shoutout to my family. I do everything for them and want to take them to the Grammy’s one day.
