We had the good fortune of connecting with Qwantel Mosley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Qwantel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my career as a Marketing Operations Associate in corporate. After being apart of several early adoptions for marketing automations in each of the companies I worked with, I learned the world of marketing automations and it was a game changer for businesses. Like social media, it was here to stay.
The last company I worked for was truly my dream job, they paid well, they had great benefits, the company culture was amazing and they even let you bring your dog to work. Who wouldn’t want to work there? But when my former manager left the company, her role was filled with a manager I honestly didn’t care for as much and she didn’t care for me either. A few months later, when the company was aquired she happily laid off my role and continued to grow her team with my former co-workers.
And to be honest, I didn’t blink. This decision just forced me to turn an already 6-month plan into an immediate plan.
With a new start to everything (my husband and I had just bought our first house together, and we’d just had our firstborn a few months earlier) it was definitely like getting a fresh start.
I took all my skills and bottled them into my business and I didn’t just end with marketing. I believe it had to all work together. I offered specific services that served my clients in their systems, operations, their teams, their clients AND marketing. Because what’s the use of getting leads when your backend operations, processes and systems are not ready to handle them?
So as I grew my business, I made it my mission to become the right-hand woman to growing businesses that understood the value of having all parts of your business in tact, not just the marketing – and my goodness it feels so good!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m an Online Business Manager. I specialize in helping creative business owners leverage operational excellence by managing their operations, people, systems, marketing + projects. I love what I do because when it comes to growing a business, we always think about the more fun customer facing things like the marketing, the website, the design, etc. However when it comes to growing your company, your systems and process , how you treat your team (so you can continue to grow) are truly the backbone.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is packed with tons of good spots. So if I had to explain a perfect day we’d go to Breakfast at Barneys for brunch, and Ponce City Market for mid-day shopping, and later that evening we’d prepare for a reserved spot at St. James Live (my friends and I love music and food).
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband for believing in me through this crazy journey of entrepreneurship. He’s truly my biggest motivator and supporter.
My close friend Kanishia Gordon for always encouraging me towards greatness and success. She lifts me up in the times I am ready to quit.
Krystal Clark, of the Organize Your Empire Community. There is no way I would have learned operational excellence without being a part of this membership. It’s truly a goldmine of valuable information.
