We had the good fortune of connecting with Quinteria Dendy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Quinteria, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always known that I was not meant or created for corporate America. I am truly a “free-spirited individual” After working for two years in the cosmetology field, I realized that my true destiny was elsewhere. In 2014, I was inspired by my husband to seek my true passion for baking. I have always had the desire to own my own business. I wanted to teach my two children how to be an entrepreneur against all odds. While keeping my faith in God, he guided me to follow my dreams to become a business owner, as scary as it seemed to be. The name Sumthin Sweet came from my grandma who passed in 2016; she would always ask if I had “sumthin sweet” to eat. With the support of my husband and angles now watching over her. Sumthin Sweet has been going strong since 2017 we are here to “Make All Your Sweet Dreams Come True”

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Founded in 2017, Sumthin Sweet Cake Factory specializes in making an exquisite range of custom sweets with a gourmet style. Our creative bakery features fresh-baked cakes, cupcakes, specialty cakes, pies, and cobblers. We are Georgia’s only cake factory that creates unforgettable memories for weddings, birthdays, corporate parties, and other special occasions, currently located in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Established to deliver the most tantalizing cakes that taste as good as they look, we take pride in creating memorable cakes for your special event in and around metro Atlanta. As a dedicated bakery focusing on creating tasty, creative cakes for any and every occasion. Therefore, we decided to form our company to introduce our uniqueness in taste and designs. At Sumthin Sweet Cake Factory, we don’t just bake cakes; we enrich and electrify lives. With our extensive understanding and knowledge of people’s desire for sweet happiness, we pride ourselves on handpicking the finest and freshest ingredients to provide delicious and healthy cakes.

Becoming an entrepreneur has not been easy but its been worth working for. What keeps me pressing forward during difficult times is first my faith in God, and second my family. I was meant and designed to break generational curses and leave a legacy. That is my driving force daily. I have 3 kids that watch what I do daily and giving up is not an option.

Some of the lessons I have learned is to continue to practice your craft. The more you practice the more confident t you become. I also learned that you aren’t meant to serve every customer. Who is for you is for you.

I want the world to know that I bake from my heart. My grandmother always instilled in me to do everything out of love. When you give love will come back in return. I am not perfect and never will be, but I will do my best to “Make Your Sweet Dreams Come True”

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my husband Ryan Dendy who motivated me to start Sumthin Sweet Cake Factory, and My grandmother Willie Mae Cole, who is the inspiration behind the name. My 3 Kids, Amara, Essence, and Zaire they are always available to help. My sister Miss A keeps me focused when I get ready to tap out and both of my parents.
