Meet Quianna Michel: Cosmetologist & Aspiring cosmetic nurse

We had the good fortune of connecting with Quianna Michel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Quianna, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I find that the best way to gauge whether to keep going or to give up is to base it on PASSION! Meaning, the existence of passion for what you are doing, or the lack thereof. I personally believe that if you have a talent or skill that you truly enjoy, you must use it so that you do not lose it. As a licensed beautician, I am passionate about client care. I feel a sense of pride and accomplishment when I see the results of my services on my clients. I am often driven to continue developing and refining my skills. I even plan on expanding into the medical side of aesthetics so that I can further fulfill my desire to help people enhance their confidence. Though there are many obstacles that may be standing in the way of what you are trying to achieve, they can be overcome with the presence of enough passion as well as the willingness to act on it!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Beauty By Quianna offers hairstyling services for all. Services include, but are not limited to crochet styles, twists, natural hairstyling, faux loc styles, and various types of braiding styles. In the past year, I have also expanded my business to offer all natural cosmetic products including a hair growth oil treatment, and a lash and brow growth serum. I pride myself and my business in being able to provide top quality service and products to all my clients and customers. I thank all of those who have enntrusted me as their hairstylist and have supported me on my journey through entrepreneurship because without them, my business would not be where it is today. This journey has not been an easy one, especially since having to start over when I moved to Atlanta. I’ve learned that building a business and a brand is something that takes a lot of time, focus, and dedication. But even when times get rough and business is slow, I know that my hard work and perseverance will carry me through.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have grown to learn that Atlanta is truly a fun spot to be with many things to do. My personal recommendations to anyone wanting to explore ATL would be to take a stroll through Atlantic station. In this little area, there are many places to shop, eat, and just hang out with friends. Another great place to explore would be the Atlanta beltline, as it is a great place to take a walk, view street art, bike ride, play in the park or have a picnic. Other great activities that I have really enjoyed are the Georgia Aquarium, Centennial Park, the Atlanta Zoo, the Trap Music Museum, the Cascade skating rink, and Atlanta’s many hookah lounges.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to firstly thank my high school cosmetology teachers (Mrs. Torres & Mrs. Gubala) for fostering my initial interest in cosmetology, allowing it to grow and for also providing me the support and guidance thereafter to become licenced before even graduating highschool.
I want to give a HUGE shoutout to my friends and family, the best support system that I could ever ask for.
To all of my long-time friends and best friends: thank you for always taking an interest in me and my goals and for believing in me to accomplish them.
To my amazing family- my parents, cousins, aunts, and uncles (y’all know who you are!)- a big shoutout to you all for providing me with such a strong support system. You all inspire me and push me to be the best version of myself. I appreciate it more than you will ever know! And special thank you to my mom for being my rock, through thick and thin. I have no idea where I would be without you
