We had the good fortune of connecting with Quendralyn Hubbard and Charissa Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Quendralyn and Charissa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It has always been our desire to construct and formulate a podium, which would allow underground and independent artists, of all genre, to be unmasked and have their music dispersed and recognized by their fans, including the general public. This would allow for any potential opportunities for discovery and conceivable career advancement for these artists. Secondly, yet more importantly, Proverbs 13:22 says “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children”. With this being a tenacious, personal proclamation, as we both agreed, it drove us to initiating a family business, which we could assemble and fabricate on a quest for generational wealth.

Simultaneously, our devotion, passion, and aspiration led to podcast shows, which we do offer. Therefore, we are honored to say we present unobstructed, open, impartial forums, so that all subject matters and issues can be discussed candidly and straightforward. Individuals are able to express themselves openly and authentically, with edit-free conversations.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
105.7 THE PHAZE is the 2nd African American female owned radio station in Atlanta, Ga and the 1st siblings owned radio station in Atlanta, Ga. Certainly, we are enthused to be entitled as such. Nonetheless, we don’t take these attributes for granted, along the way, we have, and will remain humble.

What sets us apart from others is our desire and goal to impress our customers, at every opportunity. Our level of service, as well as the ability of our staff, exceeds expectations to assist every potential customer and provide them with the best, quality service possible. It is our feel, that quality, professional service is the key to obtaining and maintaining an individual business. We also recognizes that having an innovational approach, is most times feasible, so our willingness to be creative and consistently seek new ideas are endless.

We want the world to know that we seek to achieve the most out of the opportunity we were given. Has it been easy? No, Were we detered? yes–But the barriers did not stop us, they simply slowed us down. We knew that our ambition to change something in the world were an invention of our ego. So we prayed, pushed and pressed on.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Charissa: Wow! Where do I start, Monday morning it’s RadioOne, the vision I have for 107.5 Cathy Hughes has proven it possible. With the love of our community that we share,I know we will do great things. The afternoon let’s go to Ansley Mall for sure. Nightlife, it’s Cheshire Bridge Rd area, beacons for LGBT partygoers. Tuesday it’s vintage East Atlanta and Little Five Points. Indoor skydiving on Wednesday, would be fantastic. Nightlife, let’s show off the amazing Midtown LGBT community events. Thursday, take me to the ballpark, win lose or draw its Atlanta Braves for me. Excitement starts tonight! I start with showing our nightly recording studio session with local artist that we offer. Saturday is the all day workout some would call it! That satisfies my passion for fitness.. Local batting cage for midday and skating in the afternoon!

Saturday nights, are reserved for us. Visiting venues that are hosting artists showcase, seeking quality artists for our Sony Orchid music distribution. Sunday, we rest and reflect! But let’s get the grill out, put on some music and sit on the patio and thank God for the week’s blessings~~

Quendralyn: I would research to inquire if any plays, art shows, museums, concerts, or sporting events were happening during her stay and book accordingly. Perhaps an art exhibit, ending the evening with dinner @ STK, the best steak restaurant downtown Atlanta. The vast majority of my friends are sports fanatics, so I think Fowling Warehouse, the hottest sports bar in Atlanta would be the suitable place for us to spend some time. Food experience is a must and Gyu-kaku Japanese BBQ in Atlantic Station is a cool way to wind down an evening, with a frozen Mai Tai on deck. If we decided on a little dance and entertainment, Linnethia’s Lounge (RHOA–Nene Leakes owner) would be the place. Oh, by the way, no one visits the ATL without visiting the Big Ferris Wheel . Lastly, I would be remissed to allow her to go home empty handed, so off to Phipps Plaza for a extraordinary girls shopping trip we go.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Above all, we like to give a shoutout to the Most High. Without him, this journey would be meaningless. With him, we know that nothing is impossible, if we believe and trust him. As we started this journey, he kept opening doors for us, putting us in association with the right people, removing barriers, as he iron out the kinks of our ambition. So today, we give all thanks to him, as we give him the most bona fide, authentic praise.

Secondly, we like to shoutout to our mother, Bridget, who never cease to stop praying for us. She taught us that God has to be first in our lives above everything. She always has a word of encouragement, as she taught us that, whenever there is challenge, continue to press toward the mark. Her words of encouragement, pushed us through the bumpy, turbulent times, when we thought our dreams were merely a disaster.
