We had the good fortune of connecting with Queen Precious-Jewel Zabriskie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Queen Precious-Jewel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting this business was/is a blessed journey. I was working as a supervisor in corporate America and cooking for our potlucks, making my signature curry. Several supervisors started paying me to cook for their teams, one because the food was good, and they trusted my cleanliness. After a few months of cooking for several teams, I came home and suggested to my wife that we start a catering company, and she said sure, let’s do it. I had no expectations of anything when we first started. I just knew I loved to cook for large groups of people, and why not make a couple of dollars while doing it.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Who is Indulge Catering, LLC. Established in 2014 in Durham, NC, Indulge Catering, LLC. is a labor of love. Embracing the motto “Indulge: one bite, one plate, one meal at a time,” is what sets Indulge Catering, LLC apart. Executive Chef Queen Precious-Jewel (Bronx, NY native) and Sous Chef Jacqueline “Jay” (Durham, NC native) have built a highly sought-after catering business by creating healthy, flavorful dishes that astonish and delight clients—all while using fresh ingredients from local vendors. “We pride ourselves on providing a customized VIP experience taking care of every culinary detail. We offer Traveling Private Chef Services, full-service Event Catering, Personal Chef Experiences, Corporate Catering, and University Catering services.
Indulge Catering, LLC is a black owned, veteran led, LGBTQ+, women owned and operated business. We have also been awarded the title of Best Full-Service Caterer of 2019-2022 in the Durham Magazine’s Readers Choice Awards.
