We had the good fortune of connecting with Qeren Fundi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Qeren, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I started Infrequent Brand, I was at a point in my life when I had failed out of university, I was working at a job, clerical position that wasn’t bad but I could not see myself there long-term. I knew that if I didn’t have the chance to go back to finish getting my Bachelor’s degree (but thankfully I did), I couldn’t keep working at a job I didn’t love & I needed to take a leap of faith into purpose. It was important to me to pursue what I loved and that for me was Entrepreneurship.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Although, I am CEO of the brand my brother & I created, Infrequent Brand, I also consider myself an artist because before learning about the business side of things, I’ve always been an artist. I have been sketching designs since I was a little girl, I have always loved fashion. The thing that sets me apart from others is I stay true to myself, I tend to pull inspiration from within rather than looking at what everyone else is doing.

I got to where I am today, as a CEO, by persevering and doing lots and lots of research. I didn’t have anyone to teach me the duties of being a CEO, I just did a lot of experimenting and asked those I looked up to a lot of questions and took notes. I learned from my own trial and error or other Entrepreneurs, trials and errors. It is not easy but I wouldn’t trade the process for anything else in the world. It showed me a different version of myself.

I want the world to know that if at first you don’t get it, in whatever you are doing, don’t stop there. The things that are worth the most, you have to pay the price for it (as my Mom always says). The great things don’t come with ease, you have to put in the work for it. By that I don’t mean, struggle for it, but work and elevate in the process of it, to get what you desire.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First off, I have to give all glory to God for everything he has done and continues to do for me, all the opportunities he has blessed me with, I take nothing for granted. Thank you Lord Jesus Christ!

Next, I would like to give a shoutout to my Mama for always covering me and praying for me, I wouldn’t be who I am without you Ma, I love you!
