We had the good fortune of connecting with Q.D and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Q.D, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting Rhythm and Food Events was my refusal to give up on any of my arts, passions, & talents for the sake of work stability. I had to figure out a way to build a successful career in dancing and cooking, without giving up on one for the other. My goal was to marry my talents through an event planning platform that will help connect clients with the best hospitality artists and experts in the industry. The jobs will include event planning, catering, decorating, entertainers, singers, dancers, and musicians, for events ranging from weddings and birthday parties, to anniversaries and Christmas balls. That is how Rhythm and Food was born.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The Rhythm and Food Events  platform was created out of my refusal to give up on my dreams to be both a chef and a dancer. I am an artist , and I needed a platform that would allow me to succeed at all of my art. After I realized It was up to me to build this sort of platform, I decided to combine my talents through event planning. The goal is to  help connect clients with the best hospitality artists and experts in the industry, helping manifest event dreams into reality. The services range from event planning, catering, and decorating to performers  such as singers, dancers, and musicians, for weddings,  birthday parties, anniversaries, etc. I got to where I am today through trial and error, and staying persistent. I promote myself, I continue to learn, train, and grow in all of my crafts ,and I make sure my work is professional and consistent, rather im catering, performing, or hosting.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Im not much of a party girl, I prefer group activities like bowling, skating, golf etc. A one week Itinerary with Q.D would look similar to this:

Monday
■Breakfast at Milk & Honey becuase its way to busy to eat thier on the weekends
■ spend the entire day at Jeju Spa for massages. Its a monday, let’s get relaxed before a week of excitement and again, its not as busy on weekdays.

Tuesday
■ Smoothies for breakfast at jamba juice than head to stone mountain for a hike. Good exercise and grwat tourist pictures
■ SweatHouz sauna, becuase its apart of the Atlanta experience to go to an upscale sauna
■ movies at Cinebistro or A dine in movie theater in general. Theres always discounts on Tuesdays, and not many places have these fancy theaters like Atlanta does

Wednesday
■ Ill always start the day with a smoothie and a form of exercise, so Il probably take my friend to skyzone so they wont realize I’m forcing them into my exercises routine lol.
■ we would just hang out and ill cook becuase everyday doesn’t have to be active. I love quality time as well

Thursday
■ bowling at Andretti’s
■dinner somewhere fancy like Rays on the River

Friday
■ Bar hopping! Im not a party girl, but some of my friends are do ill take thembto Buckhead for some bar hopping and drinking

Saturday
■ Ponce City Market , Theres so much to do here. Shopping, Dining, and partying on the rooftop! Its an all in one tourist attraction!

■ Sunday
Breakfast somewhere nice like the garden room so we can dress up and take pictures before my guest heads back.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many different influences that helped me become who I am today. Through both encouragement and discouragement, I was able to build the confidence needed to achieve all of my goals. I credit all of my dance teachers who have vtrained me,and helped mold me into the dancer I am today. I credit some of my family members in the same profession for helping me build my inventory, by donating me thier old catering equipment when I first got started. I would also like to give Chuck Staley of the Peach and The Porkchop in Roswell Ga, a huge thank you for trusting me to serve my recipes in his establishment, helping me expand my clientele. I would like to thank any of my friends and family members who have ever volunteered thier services, and helped me work an event, or invited me to new opportunities. Lastly, a big shout out goes to those who taught me that no matter who is not supportive of my artistic journey ,my success is proof that I am the ONLY person in charge of my destiny.
