We had the good fortune of connecting with Priscilla Kavanaugh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Priscilla, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to create a brand that empowers people and sparks conversations. And ever since having my daughter almost four years ago, the importance of messaging to girls and women has been top of mind. Then one day the idea to cross out the Y in the word “bossy” came to me, and the idea for feminist cringe was born!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
feminist cringe is a female founded, inclusive space that offers merchandise that I hope will make the wearer feel more confident while sparking productive conversations.

As a solopreneur with a full time job and a child, it’s difficult to find time to dedicate to growing feminist cringe, and knowing what aspects to focus on to bring more awareness around it.

A portion of proceeds from every feminist cringe purchase benefits a cause. We have donated to Planned Parenthood, The Trevor Project, the Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women, and The Blue Dot Project. feminist cringe is still a very small shop, but I hope to grow so that we can make more impactful donations!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a reality tv junkie, so when I visit Atlanta I’m going to head straight to Old Lady Gang. And then head to Food Truck Park!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband is a huge support system for me – he lifts me up when I feel like quitting! And I hope to build up Feminist Cringe to something meaningful that my daughter can be proud of.
