We had the good fortune of connecting with Princess Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Princess, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success as a business owner is embracing and engulfing myself in my community. I truly believe in being my neighbor’s keeper. If you take care of your community they will take care of you. This has really been the mantra for my business and proves itself year after year.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My day job as a senior kitchen designer and manager of a remodeling company has been a huge asset to helping mold my brand of MacMomma. My catering world makes me a better designer and my design world makes me a better cook. The day to day management translates into brand building for MacMomma. MacMomma rose from taking a chance on a contest with Good Morning America, my love of cooking mac and cheese and my artistic side always wanting to create. Now with 350 flavors my grandmother’s recipe that has been tweaked and passed down over the years has made my brand a community name and brought me a feature on GMA and Food Network. MacMomma’s goal to provide gourmet comfort in the form of America’s favorite food will always be our ultimate goal. Feeding my community one bowl of cheesy goodness at a time.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a foodie at heart. So every stop would include a great meal for sure. Breakfast would include a local favorite AM Kitchen. Their banana fosters French toast and the corned beef skillet is a great start. We’d have to check out Capers Restaurant and Bar in Kennesaw for a sangria and stuffed salmon or encrusted parmesan chicken with Wasabi mashed potatoes plus the strawberry toasted poundcake for dessert. Fried pimento cheese balls and martinis at The Mill Kitchen and Bar. Fish tacos and fries at Seed Kitchen and Bar. For a little history we’d check out the African American Art museum downtown, live music and dinner at The Velvet Note in Alpharetta with the must try lamb chops. Hillcrest Orchards in Ellijay for fried pies and apple cider donuts. Then head to my favorite winery in Blue Ridge, Ott Farms and Vineyard for sunset views and all the wine.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate my shout out to my husband, Courtney Thompson. He’s the most supportive piece of the puzzle to MacMomma’s success. He’s always alongside me in the trenches. He’s my first sounding board and my biggest cheerleader. I’m extremely thankful and feel beyond blessed to have him in my corner.
