We had the good fortune of connecting with Princess Em and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Princess, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my brand is how Akifit Active began. As a young black single mother, i definitely had some trials that taught me the true meaning of faith and endurance. At the age of twenty, i overcame a four car accident, losing my home and living in my car with my son because i did not have enough money to get a hotel. i worked two jobs while battling with depression and suicide for a year which caused me to be diagnosed with hormonal imbalance. Because at such a young age and dealing with so much, I was angry with God. My mother and my sister both saved me from taking my life. After, i realized that God had more for me in life and that was the only thing i needed to pursue. Which is purpose. I began studying and becoming knowledgeable with my brand. Taking all of the necessary steps to create a better life for my three year old; I wanted to be able to show single moms and young women who deals with post-partum depression, brokenness, and suicide that we can overcome anything by grace through faith.
Akifit Active carries the true meaning grace and prosperity. Behind each design and inspirational clothing is a way to reach the hearts of all communities no matter what race or gender. We ultimately believe in becoming a blessing to others and spreading love.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most proud of the ministry of work i have created with Akifit Active. Making it a home where no one is left behind. The road to AK was not easy. It took Dedication, consistency, and Action. Futhermore, I am stay at home mom and i also homeschool my toddler. However, over the past years i have been studying marketing and digital creating. Its a line of work that has created opportunities for me to teach others how to build success and inspire them to create their own business.

. My biggest challenges that come with being a business owner was balance, healing, and patience. At the age of 11 i was molested and sexually harassed by three boys which created trauma for me. I was finally able to open up about my story at the age 21. Once i was able to let go of something i held for 11 years. i learned the power of authority and ownership.

I want others to know that there will be times where some days are hard and some are easy but its why now i know more of how to create a even space in life as a mom and a CEO.

Meanwhile, sometimes i can say i get alittle scared of how things are gonna go but the biggest thing about me is Faith. knowing that what i may not see will come i just have to stay the course.

With my brand we created a secretshoppers team where we touch different locations and place small encouraging letters and money in different items in the store allowing whoever buys that item know that we understand storms come in life and that we hope we can help with just a small keep your head up letter and blessings.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite places to go and visit is the lennox mall, baskin robbins, california pizza, and six flags.

i absolutely love eating when i come to Atlanta. However our teams studio is in Atlanta. With that being said, I do want to shout out also my Photographer Rich who owns the studio and takes part of the creativity on our website akifitactive.com

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First i want to shoutout God, Because of him having his hand on my life, showing me his vision, and giving me the strength to never give up it created me to be who i am today. I am everything because of him.

My Parents (Carmen Ford) (Kevin Embry) and My sister (Brittany Whitaker) both played huge roles in my success. Having them by my side to help me maintain focused on the importance of making a difference has made me successful. They each made sure i was given great lifestyle advice, made the right decisions, and kept running the race. My Grandmother Pearl who spoke life into me and made sure i stayed the course spiritually.

Lastly, i would like to shoutout motivational speakers, Les Brown and Mike Todd for adding such inspirational meaning to my life when it came to creating the right mindset while finding and fulfilling my true purpose.
