We had the good fortune of connecting with Princess Cole and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Princess, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
As an herbalist, the value that matters most to me is helping people achieve optimal health and wellness through natural means. I am passionate about using plants and herbs to support the body’s natural healing processes, and I believe in the power of preventative medicine. To me, the ultimate goal is to empower people to take charge of their own health and well-being, and to provide them with the tools and knowledge they need to do so. This means taking a holistic approach to health, considering not just physical symptoms but also emotional, mental, and spiritual health. By prioritizing this value, I can make a positive impact on the lives of my clients and help them live their best, healthiest lives.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am an herbalist, amongst many things, but right now, that is my main focus. Being able to share my knowledge by offering online herbalism courses, spiritual products, consultations, and most recently, an eBook, is what I believe my purpose in life is. It makes me feel good knowing that I am helping people take charge of their overall health in a natural way. But it wasn’t easy starting an apothecary. It’s still not easy, but I am doing my best. One thing that I’ve learned, and is one of the main things that makes it hard is getting people to trust you. Everybody seems to think they are an herbalist these days, and a lot of them give out harmful information. So I have to make sure that people can trust that I know what I am doing. What sets me apart from others is that I will admit when something is beyond my knowledge and I will direct them to someone else who can help. I won’t pretend that I know everything. I want people to know that Aikido Enchanted Apothecary is a trusted brand. It’s more than a brand, it’s about community.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A day hanging out with one of my besties is always a good time. For food, I’d go to Pancake Social, Alma Cocina, Pho King, The Garden Room. Ponce City Market is one of my favorite places to go, as well as The Municipal Market. My friends and I love to read, so we’d hit up 44th & 3rd, and since we are plant lovers, the Botanical Gardens is a must-see.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are two people who I’d love to give a shout out to. One of them is my sister Ashanti. She is one of few people who support my business and ideas, and always willing to give her opinion on what my next move should be. The other is my friend Siri. Her friendship is unmatched. If nobody else shouts in excitement for anything I do, it will always be her. Her loyalty and words of encouragement is always appreciated.
