Meet Prince O | International Recording Artist & Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Prince O and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Prince, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I chose a career in the Arts because, music and entertainment is the magic of life. I’ve seen, and we’ve all seen some of the worlds worst people be praised and adored because they have mastered an extraordinary talent or skill.
Coming from being teased as kid, I knew being able to create magic and monetize it would give me value as a human. When I create its the only time I know what I am doing is right, everything else seems off.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am mutli-genre artist and songwriter from Long Island, NY by way of Nigeria. I started off as a mix engineer which I still do, but I became and artist by trolling the rappers I would see at local shows. My hooks are infectious so once I perfected my sound folks started taking me seriously as a “rapper”. I initially wanted to remain a producer / engineer and wanted to use stage shows to get noticed, and 7 years later I’ve penned 4 albums & 3 EPs and signed a long term major distribution deal in April of this year. (2022)
I have discovered & developed talent which is my biggest accomplishment, being able to show people how to wield the magic they posses is a great joy of mine. Take this info and go out and win! I like seeing that.
The challenges I’ve faced on my journey are people getting mad at me for winning with the same advice I gave them that they chose to ignore. lol
Lessons I’ve learned include – EVERYBODY CAN’T GO & EVERYONE WON’T REMAIN. The real deal folk in this industry know who’s faking the funk and who’s really bout it. Music isn’t for everyone no matter how musically gifted you are. That’s just the smallest part of it. The proactive win in this business.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m from Long Island so its Shopping in LI. I know someone from High School who opened a spot I haven’t been to so I’d definitely hit up “Patches Kitchen” also on LI.
Then we got to hit the boroughs and hit The Brooklyn Museum, and anything NYFW. if its that time period.
Then reservation at the Pizza Pusha for infused eats.
Then I gotta link with my day ones that essentially made Prince O. BDaProducer, DJ Phantom (especially if he out spinning somewhere!) My boy “Glue” from my Football days. Its always love support and maybe a lil bit of trouble lol!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank My Late Father, Professor K. M. Kalu. From him I learned the importance of family structure, legacy, education & lineage. I learned things like “You don’t have to go to church to be good, just be good to be good” The importance of hard work and persistence. He was the one person who’s support was unwavering. I love and miss him.
