Meet Precious Latimore | Nail Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Precious Latimore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Precious, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
To be honest. it’s deep …but to simplify it…self discovery. I was really blessed to grow up in a family full of creatives. At the age of 5, my beloved mother had already deemed me an artist. I never acknowledged any of this though. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out who I was and where I was going in life. So much that I stopped painting, drawing or creating anything. After graduating college, My mother passed away and that compelled me to start living intentionally. I began painting and drawing again. I realized that through my artwork people could understand my soul. That’s how I knew I was pursuing my passion! This was the one thing that helped me express my emotions or change my mood and life in many ways. My way of thinking changed to things were happening FOR me and not TO me. It was growth that granted me the grit I needed to pursue my creative career in the nail industry. Things I had only envisioned started to became my reality. That was all the proof I needed to start walking by faith, rather than sight. Overall though, What kind of solidified things for me was going from attending Art Basel Miami to actually being a participant this year. I feel like I began to reintroduce myself to everybody else around me and they finally started seeing me as I FINALLY see myself… a Legendary Nail Artist.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
What sets me apart from others is my style, creativity and my ability to do all things with love. I’m a visionary. Anything I think I can make my reality. I’m most proud of the fact that I am relentless. Getting to where I am professionally hasn’t been easy. I worked every job you could think of since the age of 15. Sometimes 3 at once. I grew tired. I learned to trust and love myself a lot more. I use my experiences to help guide me through the steps to finally take that leap of faith into my passion. I want the world to know that Homegirls Nails & The Homegirls Hub was inspired by beauty, love and light. The Homegirls Hub is a place you can come and feel free to bask in your authentic self. The Hub is metaphorically a pillar within the community that is dedicated to women who believe in fairytales, This community was made for women who believe in fairytales, luxury, Beyoncé, optimism, glitter, bling, the color pink, that TuPac is still alive, and those that have an overall zest for life.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I take them out to eat. We’d go bar hoping on Edgewood and then Agave for drinks and some of the best food. We’d visit old fourth ward park, get ice cream and walk the belt line until the sun sets.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are two people I believe deserve a little recognition in my story, my very good friend Akosua Nimako and the Beauty Industry of Black Women. Akosua, whole heartedly chased after her dream of becoming a Nail Technician. That ultimately inspired me to stay consistent and to do what I love, unapologetically. The Community of Black Women that create trends and continuously uplift each other in the Beauty Industry makes me so proud. To be apart of a group of women that are creating their own lane, and doing so with passion is extremely rewarding.
