We had the good fortune of connecting with Precious Kutie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Precious, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want my legacy to be about authenticity. I want to be remembered as a someone who wasn’t afraid to be herself. Someone who gave others the courage to be confident in their true selves. Understand that not everyone we meet will like or understand us, but knowing the key is to love who you are enough that others opinions and thoughts of you don’t define you. I want to be remembered as someone who always put a smile on others faces by doing what I do best, being different and embracing my weirdness, it’s what makes me authentic.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When it comes to my art I am most satisfied that I decided to choose a path that was most true to myself. At the beginning of my journey I had started creating art that I thought would be very intriguing to others, but wasn’t so intriguing to myself. Therefore, because I chose to do that I became very unhappy and depressed. I would always cry in sadness when I would create that type of art on a daily basis. I just knew it wasn’t me and most importantly, I wasn’t being seen or loved for who PreciousKutie really was just only who I could role play to be. It definitely wasn’t easy, but I kept going despite the negativity, the self doubt, and fear. The lessons that I’ve learned is to always do what makes you happy no matter how dumb you may think it is or how scared you are to do it. It’s better to do that because if you only do or create art which you feel only others will like more than you actually like it, it will only result to disappointment, unsatisfactory, and depression. Therefore, what I want the world to remember about me is I’m someone who didn’t come from the nicest or most loving family or someone who had the best upbringing. However, I chose to channel all that pain and hurt into comical and relatable content that genuinely brings laughter and joy to others.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In my view, the best and exciting places I would take my best friend would be anywhere that has amazing food. I would also take her to many places that provided fun and exhilarating experiences that would cause such an amazing and exhilarating thrill like zip lining.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to share thanks to my Auntie. She has seen me at both my lows and my highs. She’s one person in my life that has always unconditionally made me feel loved and supported. She never showed judgement in any of the choices I’ve made whether they were good or bad. She’s literally like my best friend. She cry when I cry and laugh when I laugh. She’s helped and been an amazing support system to me in more ways than I could ever express. I know that when I make it to the top I will stop at nothing to give her the world.
