We had the good fortune of connecting with Precious Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Precious, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my own business was I always wanted to have my own business since I was in middle school and I knew I always wanted to be a boss and run my own company. I graduated from Lincoln University Pa with a bachelor’s in Business Management. I started my business on the campus and knew I wanted to become a producer because I was great at organizing things, I loved films/ editing, and helping people achieve their goals I used my gift to create my business. I connected with other students on campus and then realized I could create my organization on campus for HBCU students like myself to showcase our craft and not only get myself jobs/internships but other students. That’s when I came up with the name Jones Production, a production company for HBCU students to showcase their talent, help them get jobs/Internships in the industry, and connect with other students on campus.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love editing, coming up with different visuals, and creating things that nobody in this world would think of or notice. I am most excited about seeing where my business will take me. I got to where I am today by hard work, dedication, and consistency. It was not easy I had to do a lot of work on my own, believe in myself, keep going when I felt like giving up, and I had to keep going when nobody could see my dream that I was turning into a reality. Also I had to overcome some challenges in the entertainment industry when wanting to collaborate with media companies and wanting me to work for free. The lessons I have learned is to keep going, always believe in yourself, stay motivated and never give up. What I want the world to know about my brand is that it’s more than just content this is students artwork and their dream goals. What I want the world to know about my story is that I traveled to Atlanta, Ga from Dc on my own, paid for my own apartment, paid for my own flight, and came to a new city on my own without anybody supporting me and hustling to save up money and if I can do it so can you.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My Favorite spots in the city to eat at is Old Lady Gang restaurant, Breakfast at Barneys, Slutty Vegan, Urban Wok and Crumbl Cookies.
There are lounges and bars to drink at such as Goldroom, Fadeandface, Escobar, and Boogalou Restaurant.
Places to hangout There is Piedmont Park, Pamper NailStudio, Atlanta fashion week, Trap Museum, and Downtown Atlanta.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout the campus ministry Mary Dod Brown Memorial Chapel. Maxine Cook and pastor Fredrick T. Faison for mentorship, supporting the org on campus, and encouraging me to keep going.
