Meet Pranav Abraham | Cinematographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Pranav Abraham and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Pranav, what’s your definition for success?
“For me, success is when your work is your passion.”
Success is often measured in external achievements such as wealth, fame, accolades. But, true fulfillment comes when what you do aligns with who you are. When your work is your passion, you’re not just clocking in hours to earn a paycheck; you’re investing energy into something that brings you alive.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a cinematographer who’s passionate about telling stories through visuals. For me, it’s not just about making things look good, it’s about making people feel something. I try to bring emotion, rhythm, and intention to every frame I shoot, whether it’s a short film, music video, or commercial.
What sets me apart is how much I care about the small details and how the image supports the story. I’m proud of the work I’ve done over the years, especially being part of ‘Knotted’ and ‘Fostered Deception’ which are the two recent short films that I’ve truly learned a lot from.
I didn’t have a perfect plan, but I had a strong drive to keep learning and improving. There were challenges such as uncertain projects, limited budgets, creative blocks. But pushed through by staying consistent and passionate. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that growth comes from just showing up and doing the work. I see filmmaking as a way to connect people, and I bring that sense of purpose to every set I step onto.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I don’t have a favorite spot per say, because I’m a person who likes to try out new things & places all the time. But, taking a walk along midtown or Ponce Market really makes me happy.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to thank my family and my friends at SCAD Atlanta, without them nothing would’ve been possible.
