We had the good fortune of connecting with Praise Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Praise, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I started my company, Elements of Delight, I was on the heels of having been terminated from a company I had grown with for over 9 years. After licking my wounds and having a little time to reflect on my experience there, I realized that I had everything I needed to start my own company. And, that’s exactly what I did in October of 2014. My thought process in starting my company was that I now had an opportunity to bring my expertise as a brand strategist and image consultant through the various services my team and I offer in a way that spoke to me and allowed me to live out my true purpose – helping individuals, businesses and nonprofits create strong brands and images.

What should our readers know about your business?
Elements of Delight is a Brand and Image Consulting Agency. Our stated mission is “providing clients with exceptional service where passion meets purpose, creativity meets strategy, and identity meets style.” We provide an array of Branding and Image services tailored to meet the needs of individuals, businesses, and non-profits. Some of the Brand services include strategic planning, creation of cohesive marketing and messaging, PR, development of strong social media campaigns, solidifying event opportunities to captivate target demographic, and defining/redefining products or services. We also provide a number of image-related services including evaluation of appearance/image to ensure consistency with a persons personal or professional goals, wardrobe organization, facilitate image workshops, creating personalized image strategies and wardrobe styling/shopping. As a company, we’re extremely proud of the reputation we have garnered in these past six years. Some of our success can be attributed to our commitment to connect with the Atlanta community in more ways than just conducting business. Through our various media platforms, we like to spotlight amazing people we come across; we are actively engaged in our community in a number of ways, including supporting several charities. Every May, we honor a graduating senior with a special acknowledgment, gift, and card for their outstanding achievement. As we grow, Elements of Delight will continue to look for fresh and innovative ways to support our clients and community alike. As a business owner, the road has not always been smooth. In the beginning, I wanted to be all things to everyone and in doing so would agree to provide services that though Elements of Delight was capable of doing, weren’t in alignment with our mission. Once, I recognized this, the necessary adjustments were made. This change saved both time and money.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Atlanta is a great city, one of the best in the nation…I dare say in the world. I feel honored to call it home. Anytime I’m called on to host visiting guests for the weekend there are a couple of spots that are top on my list. To start the day off right, we’ll fuel up on a delicious breakfast (my favorite meal of the day) at the Atlanta Breakfast Club, West Egg Café or Thumbs Up Diner (there are three great locations to choose from). There is also a new spot in town, Breakfast at Barney’s, that serves all day breakfast that is second to none. After breakfast we’d do a bit of sightseeing. Some of my top recommendations would be the King Center, touring the AUC (Atlanta University Center), the High Museum of Art, Ponce City Market, World of Coca Cola, the Georgia Aquarium and maybe take a stroll along the Atlanta Beltline, a walkable, bikeable trail that links 45 unique intown neighborhoods. If, one of those days, we wanted to get away from the city. We’d pack a picnic lunch and make the short hour and so drive to the beautiful Amicalola Falls nestled in the hills of Dawson County, GA. The falls are the piece de resistance of the Amicalola Falls State Park. Later we would head back to the city and have a great dinner at BarTaco, JCT. Kitchen & Bar, Murphy’s or Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I truly believe that I am a product of my faith in God in addition to countless people who have poured into my life starting with my parents, Dwight and Princella Dixon, who taught me perseverance and an understanding that no one is successful alone. I would also like to shoutout my siblings, Eduane, Dahn, Star and Joel, for their unwavering love and support, my two amazing children, Ryan and Taylor, for always believing in me and for being my biggest cheerleaders. I draw strength and encouragement daily from Dr. Rashad Richey and I’m inspired everyday by the tremendous role he plays in my life. Additionally, I would like to take a moment to shoutout The Gathering Spot Social Club, a phenomenal membership community that has been a part of helping me to grow my business and my network. As a Break Into Business board member, it has been my distinguished honor to be affiliated with an organization committed to developing strong young entrepreneurs. Lastly, I’m thankful for my grandparents, extended family, my ancestors, dear friends, mentors, Elements of Delight clients and all those that continue to impart so much into me.
