We had the good fortune of connecting with Prachi Patel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Prachi, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
I have always wanted to be here for a good time and a long time so when I found this motto it was meant to be. My company motto is something a friend said to me once, “If we aren’t all friends what’s the point?” keeping in mind that not everyone is your friend. When she said that phrase to me I knew it was exactly the energy I needed to build my community around. I want people to enjoy their lives to the fullest and to always have a strong enough sense of self-worth so as to not be taken advantage of. I truly would not be where I am today without my friends, close friends, business friends, and school friends. It doesn’t matter how close you are to them it makes a difference. Having people in your life that want nothing but the best for you or even people who just respect you enough to not want anything bad for you in the very least are important. They are important because we live in a world where appearances, social media, and the digital age have made it easier than ever to contact others but also just as easy to feel loneliness. It’s similar to the saying that you can be in a room full of people and still feel alone, friends are the people in your life that make you feel like you have somewhere to turn. Feeling like you have someone to talk to or lean on is a very freeing feeling. Relief is a feeling that is hard to find when you are all alone. I have struggled with my sense of community my entire life and during my first full year as Prachi Henna Art, LLC I genuinely feel like I have made a difference in people’s lives with my mission and small business practices. Because really, if we aren’t all friends what’s the point?

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I dabble in multiple media within handmade art, design, marketing, graphic design, and illustration. What sets me apart from others is that I have been selling products since I was 3 and making and selling since I was 5. I grew up in the gas station and convenience stores my parents ran and owned over the course of my 21 years. I am most excited to graduate and be able to fully dedicate my time to running my business and following through with my planned collaborations. It was not easy to get to this point in the least, however, I will say it has come naturally to me. Honestly, I am lucky enough to have the people in my life I need to help me keep pushing through when challenges like price rises, discrimination, and bigotry come my way. I have learned that the friends and connections I make through this work make the bad days worth it one hundred percent. I want the world to know that Prachi Patel does not play games, I am a brand builder. Prachi Henna Art will become a well-known name as I plan to work for the latest and greatest upcoming superstars in the music industry starting with Atlanta. So if you need a designer, henna artist, illustrator, packaging designer/distributor or branding specialist Prachi is your girl.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Since I have been in Macon while attending Mercer University I would probably take my friend to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. Find a ramen shop in Atlanta, maybe a chill lounge space.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to the women at The Pretty Fixx Beauty Spa & Body Care on Napier Avenue in Macon Georgia. The owner Tina Charm has really believed in and supported me during these last few months. She has created a powerful group of WOC-owned businesses that I feel proud and blessed to be associated with under The Pretty Fixx roof. These women are ambitious, driven, and kind and I cannot wait to watch them grow and help each other along the way.
