We had the good fortune of connecting with Porshia Evans and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Porshia, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to start a business doing something that I would truly love and put my all into. I’ve had lots of business ideas prior to starting Glam L’amour, but this one just felt right.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Starting a small business is not easy! I had a lot of trial and error moments. There were times that I changed my mind about products, packaging, logos, etc. One day I saw a video of an entrepreneur discussing how it is okay to start over, it’s okay to rebrand, & how successful businesses don’t always start out perfect. That advice was so helpful & it helped me to have more patience with branding my company.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Of course we would start with brunch! Bottomless mimosas are mandatory! We would visit the Botanical Garden and do a pub crawl if the weather is nice. Food options are endless, but my top favorites are STK & Nakato. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my parents. They’ve always been my biggest supporters and never hesitate to give me constructive criticism when needed. I presented my idea to them and they were behind me 100%.
