We had the good fortune of connecting with PLU5ONE (Daniel Latsis & Paula DeCastro) and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi PLU5ONE, what matters most to you?

One of our most important principles happens to be some advice given to us by one of our largest musical inspirations and favorite DJ duos; Ship Wrek. After one of their shows in Florida, we had an opportunity to meet Tripp and Collin and they told us to “work hard, and people will notice.”

Working hard for us has been making sacrifices that others typically aren’t willing to make.
Sometimes it’s staying in to be productive and creating content and music instead of going out; or alternatively going out to show friends our support when we’d rather stay in. Just plant one seed at a time.

Passion + Persistence = Greatness.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The fact that we are a male & female DJ duo is uncommon and often described as inclusive and refreshing which certainly sets us apart from other DJ’s. Combined, we have a vast range of skills that also include filmmaking, design, marketing, event coordination, and music production.

We are most excited about featuring other talented artists on our live stream @Plu5one and continuing to perform live.

We got to where we are today by investing in the gear we needed to practice on a regular basis, by spending our free time wisely, and consistently leaning about the industry. Pursuing the arts is never easy and always requires sacrifice in other aspects of life. Fortunately, undertaking these challenges are easier together.

We have learned a lot so far about the music industry. Take your time with everything and Plan, Plan, Plan. First impressions are everything. And try to align yourself with those that share your morals.

Just some backstory on our name: Bringing a plus one to an event certainly can have sexual implication which is fun in terms of a DJ Duo name, but simply put we are both each others plus one everywhere we go. Plus, one of our first conversations between us was inviting the other one of us to some event to be a plus one.
And then to knock out any username availabilities we simply wrote Plus One using a little bit of “leet speak” hence PLU5ONE.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We really like Brazilian Steakhouses like Passador, but if you want the best butter chicken you’ve ever had you’ll have to go to Biryani-N-Grill in Smyrna where they also have a cute robot that serves your food.
In terms of a place to visit here in the city we like nature so we highly recommend getting those hiking shoes on and checking out the nice scenery on the East Palisades Trail.

And lastly might we just say that our favorite place to just hang out truly is at our house. It’s our own little nightclub.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We dedicate our shoutout to our families – without them we would not have the love and support to pursue what we truly want to do.
