We had the good fortune of connecting with Play Callour and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Play, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I feel that risk is one of the greatest things things that any artist/entrepreneur can do is take risks. I feel like playing it safe will only lead to further procrastinations and delays. Taking calculating risks has gotten me my opportunities that I would have never fulfilled if I decided to play it safe. There has been a great abundance of rewards with the risks I have taken.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is very passionate and it stems from (typically) 3 places : pain, inspiration, and motivation. Between life altering injuries, trauma, and other hardships I can say the journey has not been easy but the process has been worth the success. Before I understood the power of affirmations, self therapy, meditation, and manifestation I often found myself “writing things to cement them into stone” and making sure to selectively utilized the “power of the tongue and speaking life over yourself.” The lessons I have learned along the way were to always put yourself first and be aware of misleading individuals that work to use you for their personal gains and alterer motives. This road to an authentic path has not been easy, even at each level you reach it tends to have new obstacles and challenges. The wisdom, skills, and knowledge you gain along the way will make it more manageable to endure. What I want the world to know about my brand and story is that is that everything that is created is to symbolize courage, strength, knowledge, and resilience. Always work to better your craft and find solutions, that is what my story and work will reflect.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of my favorite spots in the city would definitely include some of Atlanta’s popular restaurants. We would go to Mr. Fries Man, JJ’s Fish and Chicken, Thumbs Up Diner, Esco Restaurant & Tapas, Greatest OTP, Restaurant Ten, and Rock South for food. Depending on their vibe we would also go to Piedmont Park, Opium, Magic City, Rum Punch Brunch, Little Five Points, and whatever other vibey’ area. Most people come to Atlanta for fun so I am sure they would want to be outside. Of course there is a lot of interesting people I have met in the entertainment industry so it would all have to be planned in advance. I honestly feel like there is so many places for me to explore in ATL. I still feel like a tourist, I definitely would need to contact some natives I know for refreshers.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would first a foremost like to thank God, my mother, my siblings, my family-friend group (you know who you are) and my mentors Mike & Doug (founders of DrinKicks). As far as support and encouragement to others I would say continue to be yourself, be good to the universe and it will be good to you. Treat others how you want to be treated. Between my family/friends I would say they deserve the most recognition because they were the foundation supporting me and giving me assists to further my career and develop as an artist.
