Meet Pierre Cerrato | Editor and Producer for animated series and Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Pierre Cerrato and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Pierre, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
My parents called me Pierre, so I had no choice in the matter! Haha!I have been drawing for as long as I can remember. I wanted to make skateboard and t-shirts graphics for a living but ended up going into the animation industry and make cartoons for a living. Creative career or not, my brain would still find a way to flex that muscle. Also, its fun to draw for no good reason.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I really enjoy drawing and painting cartoony characters with thick outlines and bright colors, whether its on walls, canvases or digitally. The smiles on the faces of my characters don’t always reflect my mood, honestly hardly ever, but I think that helps keep my attitude in check and serves as a reminder to keep it dumb and fun.
I try not to plan out work too often. Even with larger work. I’ll have a general idea of what I want to get out, or I’ll dig through sketchbooks, revamp a thought I had years ago and I just go on the ride with it. It keeps things loose and enjoyable for me. You can always buff something, CTRL/CMND-Z it, or just start over.
I don’t assign a lot of meaning to my work because I enjoy the rituals and the motions that come with making stuff. Maybe that sets me apart? I create for my own enjoyment and if my work resonates positively with anyone, I am eternally grateful .
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Were gonna eat a lot and pizza is happening at Fellini’s or MTH Pizza. Nam Phuong for Vietnamese. Heirloom or Community for BBQ. El Tesoro or Taco Veloz and if vegan La Semilla for latin food. Little’s Food Store or The Earl for burgers. I also recently stumbled upon Saint Germain bakery in Buckhead village and got some delicious pastries and coffee there, so we might have to make a stop there but you also can’t go wrong with literally anything from Sweet Hut.
If we wanna get some steps in to burn off all that food, I would take the homie out to any part of the Beltline to check out murals or the Silver Comet trail to just be in nature for a bit, maybe rent a bike. I’m not much of a night-life person but if we’re gonna go out for drinks it would probably be Estoria, anywhere in EAV and I also really like MidCity in Midtown.
Can’t go wrong with the Aquarium and the Botanical Gardens for touristy style activities.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to the Lotus Eaters Club and all its members, past and present! Being a part of the club has helped me experiment with different styles and mediums. I’ve met a lot of amazing artists and been a part of soo many amazing shows and collabs through the club. They keep me inspired to keep making stuff. Also, shout out to my wife for also pushing me and being my biggest fan!
