We had the good fortune of connecting with Phyllup Gilbert and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Phyllup, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It takes “nothing to it, but to do it” The longer you sit and wait to start up a business, the longer it will take you to actually proceed with the business. I’m a huge procrastinator and I will sit and dwell on ideas for business ventures all the time and the whole time the only one that is holding me back is me. Whole time businesses with the same exact ideas and schemes are popping up all around me. However, I’m a very creative person and sometimes I think off a whim and implement my plan to put it into motion.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Short story. Im one of a kind. I know we have all heard that before, but just my name alone sets me aside from other. PhyllThaPrynce is not a common name and Phyllup Gilbert definitely is not spelled common. I have my lovely mother Kay Gilbert to thanks for that because when I was born she said “you are going to be my unique child” and that I was. From elementary it was my passion to be in some kind of tv and famous, I am not there, but I sure am working on it. I have been called “The Chosen One”! I am also looking into my own vending business soon and a few more businesses that I researched and want to try. Watch out for the BOSS!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love a good after hour late sushi date, or even a good after hours to go to. Sometimes I can get a little ratchet. My favorite go out drink is the rum punch because its what I consider “the safe drink” lol. The selfie museum is pretty cool, but we would have to leave the touristy spots alone. Places like The Trap are overcrowded and hyped up and I want to have fun. Midtown would be a fav because we can walk around and have a good ole brunch with some early cocktails which never hurt anybody.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I started a show about 1 year ago and called it “The Comment Section”. Little did I know I had this idea out on the table and was not prepared to do anything with it yet. All I knew is I wanted to Executive Produce a show and I had no help. My cohost, Ashton Spencer aka on insta Lyfeofash came to my rescue who is also on a web series show called the Real Hotboys of Houston to help lil ole me out and save the day. On that show we are more on helping LGBTQ based artists and businesses owners get their craft out there as well as shining some light on web series shows, and hot topics happening during the week in he main stream world. We are now in our third season and the show is doing so well. He really came in and helped put it all together I must say and I have to thank him for that.
