We had the good fortune of connecting with Phoenix Gibbs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Phoenix, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk-taking is the art of not allowing fear to stop you from making the dreams in your heart a reality. I have taken risks in my career since 2010 when I first became an entrepreneur and had no clue what I was doing and just winged it. I took it a risk because I never wanted to have any regret when I am on my death bed singing the shoulda, woulda, coulda song.
This passion for asking taking amplified when I had a near-death experience in 2011 that solidified not wanting to die with regrets when I can live and make changes that are true gifts to my life.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As an Affirmations Author and Intentional Living Coach, I work with beautiful beings who struggle with health anxiety by giving them effective tools to break up with health anxiety and take their power back so that they can create the intentional life they deserve. I have struggled with health anxiety the majority of my life and I am so excited to teach, share, and serve what I have discovered to kick health anxiety to the curve. My goal is to create an opportunity for beautiful beings to finally say YES to themselves and their well-being without health anxiety.
Health anxiety controlled my life for a really long time after being sexually abused as a child and teenager where there lots of self-sabotage in my mind, heart, body, and spirit. I gave permission to everyone I met to do what they wanted with me because I did not love myself enough and did not value my worth. I had to hit rock bottom for me to wake up to myself and realize I was doing lots of damage to myself emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually. I made a powerful commitment to myself to go through my healing and forgiveness process and discovered so many amazing blessings within myself that I was so excited to share with others.
I realized that there are so many people that struggle with health anxiety who are suffering in silence due to fear of judgement and scrutiny from family and friends. I want them to know that even though it is not an easy process to get to the other side of health anxiety however once you get there it is rewarding and helps bring so much peace to one’s life. I also learned that patience and being gentle with yourself is one the best ways to maneuver through life’s challenges instead of allowing health anxiety to take control of your life.
I happily and proudly share my story and experience with health anxiety to offer inspiration and hope to those who need to feel uplifted and to know that they are not alone. I use my story as a way to serve humanity in this way because we all need to work on giving ourselves as well as others grace and compassion especially in these challenging times.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
OMG Savannah is such an amazing treasure to visit! If a friend came for a visit I would recommend a few places.
Forsyth Park is the most beautiful park with such character and a breathtaking fountain that melts your heart. The trees and fresh air are an experience all by itself. It’s definitely best to visit it on Friday evening to experience the nice breeze and chill atmosphere.
Bella Napoli Italian Restaurant is one of the most spectacular hidden treasures that definitely need to be visited. It is like visiting Italy and the staff treats you like family. The food is amazing and melts in your mouth. This place takes you on a journey of Italy with its ambiance and impeccable customer service. It’s definitely best to visit Bella Napoli around Saturday afternoon when it’s their slow peak to experience this restaurant on such a level.
A must-visit is Tybee Island where you can feel the spirit of the water goddess and all of her glory once you set foot on the beach. There is nothing like Tybee Island I have ever experienced in my life. On my first visit, I got completely emotional because it took my breath away. The best time to visit Tybee Island is early Sunday morning around 5 am to watch the sunrise and get the full experience of Tybee.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out my wife Sabrina Gibbs for her continuous love, support, and encouragement and always being here when I fall and to keep it real with me. I also would like to shout out my mom, siblings, and spiritual family who are always here to hold space for me and send me love, light, and healing energies on my hardest days. It takes a strong tribe to assist me and support me when I am experiencing spiritual changes and shifting through various forms of growth and I am super grateful for my tribe.
