We had the good fortune of connecting with Phoenix Freedom and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Phoenix, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born in New York City in Harlem Hospital, however my mother is from Belize and my father is from Haiti. I was to sent to Belize at two weeks old to be raised by my grandparents and felt that I lost that maternal connection with my mother. That truly affected my life in so various ways, but the unconditional love, compassion, and safety given to me by my grandparents made all the difference in the world for me.

My grandparents gave me the gift of love and compassion and a sense of freedom to be myself, who is a beautiful and loving barefoot goddess that embodies love, especially after experiencing sexual abuse and dissociation as a child. That pure and unconditional love is the essence of who I am to my core, despite how past trauma has affected my life.

The love that was offered to me helped me humanity even though another human being violated me, took away my power and permission, along with my feelings of safety. The love that was offered to me gave me a sense of compassion and grace and to see past another person’s pain and suffering that may have caused them to act out.

The love that was offered to me has impacted me to give myself permission to tap into my subconscious mind and to connect with my inner child who has been waiting to speak her truth and express her voice and to finally feel seen, heard, and validated after experiencing abuse.

That love empowered me to become an author, writer, lifestyle and spiritual coach, podcaster, and content creator, sharing my story about overcoming trauma and living authentically.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a writer, content creator, journalist, interview, and podcaster. I utilize my love for writing and podcasting to share and express my experience with mental health, self-development, dissociation, overcoming trauma and living authentically to transform the minds, hearts, and spirits of humanity.

My writing and podcast episodes share my truth of all that I have been through in my life from the time I was born until my life as it is today and the many roles that I have played in my life to survive after experiencing various forms of abuse and dissociation.

I use my life story, writing, and podcast as a platform to reach out to those who are struggling with their mental health from the trauma that experienced as a child.

My podcast is “Overcoming Trauma and Living Authentically on Anchor/Spotify.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would show them Savannah GA. It is the most magical place to visit. It is extremely warm and welcoming and the people are super friendly and helpful. I would take my friend to my favorite hole in the wall Italian restaurant called Bella Napoli for their authentic food that is cooked with so much love. I would take them to Tybee Island, which is the most enchanting beach you could ever want to visit. I would take them to Forsythe Park to put their feet in the grass and sit and watch the most beautiful fountain while brides and grooms get married in front of the fountain. I would take them to my favorite metaphysical shop known as Cosmic Corner for all of their spiritual needs.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My partner/girlfriend Mel who was the first person to truly see through me and to call me out on my stuff when I needed it and empowered me to tap deeper into myself so I can experience a more powerful sense of healing.

My inner child for stepping forward to expressing to me exactly what she needed and giving me permission to mother her and make her feel safe for the first time in a long time

My grandparents, who are no longer in the physical world for their unconditional, pure love, compassion, and safety they offered me as a child.
