We had the good fortune of connecting with Philicia Gandy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Philicia, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
Great question! When you believe in yourself, and know that the visions you have can and will be successful. You definitely have to stay consistent with believing in yourself first!! It’s okay if you mess up or fail, Try it again but next time do it better! Block out any negative distraction, focus!!!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am most proud of being there for upcoming inspired hairstylist. I remember being in cosmetology school looking up to so many great hair stylist! Now I am one of the many stylist that others look up to! This industry comes with a lot of emotions and a REAL CARING stylist will understand that!!! It took alot of patience for sure to get to where I’m at….but because my career is my passion I have learned bad days won’t last forever continue the day with positivity! I’m grateful for my Career, it honestly saved me I went a while with knowing that doing hair is what I wanted to do I just needed that extra push to just do it! My brand “Phi Gandy” has grown within this last year, it started out as “ styles by phi” now its “ Phi Gandy” I am inspired to aspire that’s what truly make me happy and of course enjoying helping clients start there new hair journey!! Here is something that I will say, success isn’t easy! You have to work hard at all times! Don’t get content with being comfortable it’s always hard work that has to be done IN YOUR BRAND!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Lol my friends and family They are pretty simple, we love to eat and vibe to good music!! We definitely would go to one of my spots called New Orleans daiquiri located in college park!!! Definitely love those daiquiris and crab claws lol oh and this restaurant and lounge called fade and facet located in Duluth definitely a good time with great food!!! Me and my friends could do nothing and we have the best time just hanging and laughing!! I don’t go out much I’m still learning new spots and places to go recommended by my clients!!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family, friends, and colleague Tash the owner of Yokiibeauty and J!!
