We had the good fortune of connecting with Perrie Gooden and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Perrie, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is being authentic and true to myself. Five years ago, I started sharing my spiritual journey on social media. This was difficult at first, I was completing nursing school, working on becoming financially stable, and healing from self-judgment. Many of my posts would have affirmations for healing the mind, body, and spirit. My Instagram page became a platform for me to share my truth. I was raw and vulnerable, which resonated with my audience.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Nurse Spiritualist. I created this title while working in the hospital as a registered nurse. When my patients share their conditions with me, I can get a sense of their energy. One of the questions I ask my patients is “How are you feeling spiritually?”. Once I receive the answer to that question, I elaborate on their diagnosis and the power of the mind. I explain to them that there is power in the way we, as human beings, think. If we think we are unable we become. However, if we think we are able, we become capable. Well-being is a healthy balance of the mind, body, and spirit.

Outside of the hospital, I work with individuals in achieving well-being and I hold motivational speeches to groups, internationally. I use mediation, affirmations, herbs, crystals, and spiritual baths to assist in my spiritual practices and teach people how to use them. My brand, Being Nurse P the Nurse Spiritualist is for individuals that want to learn more about spirituality to connect to God and/or the Universe. This will help them feel secure within their own bodies and to learn how to love unconditionally. I am most proud of my brand for its transparency. I love that people can feel my energy through social media and become enlightened by my words.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Georgia has a wealth of history, some of my favorite places to visit are:
True Food Kitchen (Atlanta, GA)
Negril ATL (Atlanta, GA)
Slutty vegan (Atlanta, GA)
Chateau Elan -Winery & resort (Braselton, GA
Victory Creek Trail at Roswell Mill (Roswell, GA)
Tallulah Gorge State Park ( Tallulah Falls, GA )
Stone Mountain to climb the mountain and meditate (Stone Mountain, GA)

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out Georgia Baptist College of Nursing of Mercer University for my education, their support, love, and encouragement. I love being a GBCN nurse because I feel qualified and capable to work in any field of nursing. GBCN made sure I had what it takes to be a confident leader and team player. I want to give a special thank you to Dr. Linda Streit, Dr. Linda Barber, Dr. Natasha Laibhen-Parkes, Dr. Jennifer Bartlett, Dr. Lanell Bellury, Professor Lewis, Professor Rosedale, Abigail Harden, and the Admission Team.
