We had the good fortune of connecting with Pedram Charepoo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Pedram, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I was always musical and involved with music from a very young age. I grew up with music around me and always felt like the emotions and imagination it evoked in me was pivotal to my development as a human. I started producing music in high school and continued through my college career until I finished my undergraduate studies.. It wasn’t until about 5 years later, after getting married and progressing through my professional development, that I realized I had put something so critical to my development as a person and a source of catharsis by the wayside for nearly half a decade. In May 2020, amidst the COVID pandemic and lockdowns, I picked up some of my old gear from my parents home and bought some new equipment and started using music composition and production as a way to entertain myself immersing myself in relearning the technology around modern music production. In January of 2021 I decided that while I continue to make music and work in my profession, I might as well give publicizing my work a shot. I started to independently publish and distribute my music online and as I noticed a few people here and there were finding my music, I started to put financial backing behind my passion. I am pursuing an artistic and creative career at this stage because I see that it brings deep value to my life and the creative outlet has actually helped me in my technical thinking as well. All in all, I think everyone, whether a creative or not, should attempt a creative outlet because it is a form of expression where words may fail.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
There are countless artists out there in every genre of music so I think it is a tough question to answer. What I believe sets my art apart from others is that it is uniquely my own. I have always just sat down and let it flow; never thought, “Oh, I’d like to make song similar to X or Y”. The little bit of attention I have been able to garner online, I think, is in large part due to having a profession that affords me the opportunity to financially support what was once just a hobby and help get my art in front of people who may have never stumbled across it. There are always challenges in anything but I think for myself, it was always about never pressuring the music or art to be anything other than what it is; expression. I have never felt like I needed people to like it, I make music I myself would like to hear and so far, that has been enough for me to overcome any obstacles. If I had one gleaning I would like people to take away from my experience, it would be that it is never too late to pursue a passion, and to do something for the sake of having done it, not for the validation of others.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is a fantastic city with a lot to offer. Whenever I come across people who are new to the area I like to recommend they visit midtown, little five points, and Inman park. These areas have changed dramatically over the years but have always been great spots for shows, good food, parks, etc. Park tavern was a place I often took visitors to the city because it was nice to take a walk around Piedmont park after having a good meal and now with Ponce city market and the belt line, there’s a slew of things to do and see in that pocket of Atlanta that you could spend a whole day on. If night life is someone’s things we have a wide range of nightclubs and great lounges. Pasha, for example, is an upscale restaurant and lounge located in Buckhead in Miami Circle with great food, fantastic music often Curated by DJ Meddi, and a nice ambiance that has attracted a lot of local celebrities.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my family. My parents and siblings for exposing me to music from many genres and my Wife for believing that I should be pursuing music professionally even when I thought it should only be a hobby for myself.
