Meet Peace Pressley | Music School Owner & Teacher

We had the good fortune of connecting with Peace Pressley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Peace, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
A lot of times people strive for “work/life” balance. Yet, the truth of the matter is that it doesn’t really exist! I know it makes no sense, but let me explain. Some days, the scale tips in favor of work, where I’ve had to work while I was out of town, or work most of a Sunday (my day “off”) to meet a deadline or prep for the week. However, there are some days where, I have no classes to teach, no meetings, and I don’t feel like posting online, On these days, I have nothing standing in my way of relaxing and hanging out with my family and friends. It’s rarely equal or balanced.
What I do strive for is satisfaction, contentment, & joy. Am I happy with the work that I am doing or not doing? Yes, but some days it’s madness! Have I made space for my husband and kids to love and kiss on me? Absolutely, but it may have had to wait a few minutes. Did do something for myself today? Not yet, but I will. Did I pray this morning? Maybe I forgot, but I”ll do it right now! So, is it balanced? No, not really, but I’m happy with how it works out.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am most proud of the fact that I decided to share my gifts! A lot of times we are hindered by our fears, myself included. I stepped out on faith, believing that I am doing exactly what I was designed to do. I am where I am because I took a leap. I jumped and didn’t look back! I think the biggest lesson that I have learned is not to stand in my own way because of fear. I had a fear of failing and not being good enough. But I’ve come to realize that failing, at minimum, means that I tried! I did something that scared me and I’m still alive to talk about it!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live out in Snellville, but I love an excuse to venture out! If my bestie is coming in town, we are going to Jeju Spa in Duluth. Grab a bit at Marlow’s Tavern or Flying Buscuit near the Forum on Peachtree Pkwy. Maybe we could have brunch 5 Church, Rays on the River or Le Petit Marche. Or if we could go for a hike up Stone Mountain or at the Roswell Mill.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Husband, Rashaad, is insanely supportive of my dreams and actions. He will be my photographer, videographer, creative director, and more! My Mommy is the reason that I am so creative. It comes from her and I couldn’t be more grateful! My good friend Kenya. She is my sounding board. I run so many of my thoughts and ideas past her. She is my cheerleader!
