We had the good fortune of connecting with Paula Paes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paula, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I moved to the United States almost 2 years ago, in Brazil, I worked all day and the night I studied, so I had a very busy routine. When I got here, I started cooking for some friends who soon reported that they missed Brazilian food, and that’s when I started accepting some orders, listening to the needs and wishes of my customers, that’s how Queen’s Bites was born.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Queen’s Bites is a company that produces Brazilian snacks, such as the famous Coxinha (Chicken Croquet) and the Cheese Balls. We mainly serve the Gwinnett County region, but we are not limited to that, we are working to expand our range of service, and if everything goes well we will be shipping to the entire United States within 3 months. Here we value the quality of the product and seek to satisfy our customers and bring a little Brazilian flavor to those who live here in the United States and also to those who want to know and taste them. The way here has not been easy, but this is what happens with all entrepreneurs everywhere, we need to put our lives in our business, and learn to overcome challenges daily, which is worth it when you finally see your work being recognized.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, I would certainly make this person taste the delights that we have here. I would not fail to go to Piedmont Park, and to Centennial Park, a game of Basketball would also be an almost mandatory attraction and taking advantage of the ride would go to Woody’s Cheestake for the best meat sandwich I’ve ever eaten in my life! I would not fail to take this person to Helen, be it winter or summer, a visit to the Troll Tabern would be confirmed, I have no doubts about that. I would end with a trip to Lake Lanier, to enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen. Still on food there would be a visit to Luciano’s in Duluth, our favorite Italian and of course many Coxinhas from Queen’s Bites!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Some friends were and are very important in this process, because in addition to all the support, they support my business as customers, it was through the need for some of these friends that the Queen’s Bites menu grew. Throughout this period I made important partnerships that made me (still do and will do much more) go further and grow as a company and mainly as a person But, without any doubt, the person I must thank is the one who was with me since the first thought of opening a business here, there was some resistance at the beginning, but from the beginning my husband was with me, being my support, my foundation, and he is the one who supports me, who holds me when I need to, and who gives me the fuel to continue on this path, celebrating with me every little achievement and helping me from production to running the business.
